At the half, Rivers gives up an early pick-6.. Then settles down and tosses 2 touchdown passes, including 1 to Malcolm Floyd. Good to see M-80 apparently not showing any ill effects from the concussion he got a week ago. Still, I don't think any charger fans want to see him take any hard hits this game.

is anyone else disappointed in Matthews? I thought he was going to be the answer at RB. He had that long run tonight, but couldnt outrun a safety? He has no burst, no moves. he's a straight up runner with no elusiveness or speed.
any thoughts?

Matthews wasn't worth trading up for. He's a stiff runner without a lot swivel and has good speed but not breakaway speed. He also appears to get dinged up a lot. Far too much for the #1 RB.
Re game last night. They started the game like they were sleepwalking and played that way most of the game. Norv's demeanor on the sideline was a mirror of their play.
Then, late in the 4th, all of a sudden the coffee kicked in and Norv showed that he wanted to win, and they did.

Turnovers are a disaster in this league. And he fumbling again in the game. I also think fumbling can cause a player to run tentatively.

I was very impressed with the team's poise and ability to mount a calm/collected comeback. I don't like seeing us get down early, but if they continue to show this tenacity and heart...it's ok by me.
Mathews scares me. We put an awful lot of stock in him, and I most definitely don't see him being the next big thing to help the Chargers out at RB. He has a tendency to be hurt, soft, and doesn't appear to have a lot of heart. That could be due to the UT writing staff trumping him up...but how do you come into a shortered off-season damn near out of shape? Inexcusable.
And EVERY time he seems to bust a decent run, he fumbles at the end. Frustrating.

He's always running into walls.
