Watching Bartlett boot everthing hit his way, and Hudson living on the DL, Makes me wonder, who do the Padres have in the minors, at 2nd and SS, and haw fast will they get here? You need to be solid up the middle. Maybin is really coming into his own in center. Any thoughts?

we're a little thin at both spots in players ready to jump to the majors. Forsythe is obviously the top prospect for 2nd, and Everth Cabrera is still down there somewhere on the farm for SS, but beyond that it gets pretty young. Belnome at AA looks like a good hitter, but for some reason nobody ever gives him much love. Drew Cumberland's retirement leaves us especially thin at SS, unless I'm forgetting someone.

I am not sure the Padres can trade either and I don't think they will have better options in 2012. Hopefully they can improve on their backups. They do control Alberto Gonzalez for another 3 years.

Belnome will hit but his fielding is the question - lack of range. He may be better at 3B but the Padres are full of 3B.

Of all the middle infielders the Padres brought up this season, IMO Logan Forsythe has the most potential. He plays smart and has a nice compact swing.
