Interesting. However, what is mentioned in the article should be the next point of litigation. That of Walmart working their "Managers" to death. Walmart, like other retail and fast food businesses, will "promote" a person to the position of "manager" and then work them up to 100 hours per week because they are now "Exempt". Most of these people do not actually have managerial responsibilities as defined by the government. Some fast food companies really took advantage of this in the past and basically everyone at the business was "promoted" as soon as their probationary period was over. Greed took over. It was kind of hard to justify calling all of their teenage employees "Managers". Walmart will get theirs soon.

Interesting. However, what is mentioned in the article should be the next point of litigation. That of Walmart working their "Managers" to death. I sort of take a libertarian view on this given that two of my best friends went to work for K-Mart when they came out of SDSU. Yeah, they got worked to death and yeah, they were given promises that weren't kept but they both quit for both those reasons. Retail management is ugly and not something I'd ever cared to bother with but if you're young the option to just walk away is always open so I see no reason to bitch. If you're in your 20s or 30s and you hate what you're doing, find something different to do. It took me far too long to reinvent myself. I was well into my 39 th year before I became a planner after a few months working for Pac Bell, 4 years in archeology and 6 years as a letter carrier. Find something you like and go for it. It's hard to make a change, especially if it's one that involves a cut in pay, but it's better to love what you're doing than to live with a job you hate. That's the thing about having a degree - you get to pick and choose a bit. =Bob

Men are generally better leaders than women. Not always. But generally. The best prime minister Israel has had in the past 40 years was an elementary school teacher from Wisconsin. Golda was most excellent in job performance. Nixon in negotiating with her openly admitted, "That is one strong woman!" He did not get one concession from her and realized that he had met a master of politics. The most dynamic Prime Minister of England in the past 40 years was Maggie. Argentina made a big mistake when they landed their army on the Falkland Islands and sent their Navy out to take possession of that English speaking territory. (The Spanish had never effectively settled it but the English did.) Darwin said the settlers were all convicts, but they did settle unpopulated land. The most dynamic leader Germany has had since Hitler fled to Argentina has been Angela Merkel, The Woman Iron Chancellor. She gets things done and nobody is dumb enough to stand in her way. I am a member of her fan club even if I do not agree with some of her solutions to problems.
