Obama in Afghanistan: weak or strong horse?

The war in Afghanistan is nothing if not controversial. Plenty of Americans are asking themselves whether it's all worthwhile. Even some leading conservatives are skeptical (see George Will's column on this topic:

So, how are things going over there, and how is Obama's strategy working out? Mark Steyn, writing in MACLEANS.CA (from Canada) gives his opinion. He makes some good points, and what it all adds up to is not terribly encouraging.

As a Born Again Liberal I know that the war is useless and will only result in the deaths of hundreds of more fine young Americans. Time to cut bait, and split.
