It's win-win for him as long as the US isn't actively in there: Libya topples he can build a verbal triumphal arch, if it doesn't, by the time election time heats up in 15-18 months, some other foreign moment will have arrived which will give him a chance to shine. That's the deal with the presidency: you only have to be at a good time and get something out of many right (or have big buildings crash and put your figurative cowboy hat on) or have something fall in your lap. Not to mention, if he's a lame duck down the road, he's the right guy to give us some harsh truth and be a USA monster post-presidency.
