Kaplan does seem to have a higher regard for Obama than most of us Conservatives. When you try to make sense of all the many moving parts in the Middle East you wonder how we can have any policy that will be effective. I think that even the small portion of the problem that is Libya has not been thought through.

The US, by serendipity or planning is hanging 10 on a wave that will keep it the major power for the next century --- really, things couldn't have turned out better for the United States, and the Libyan response has been according to Hoyle (though, again, as with Egypt I think more by the seat of the pants (though it's becoming clearer they are starting to read the cipher) than planning)
Think about it: the rusko-chinese alliance is built on the promise of a future, oppressed eastern africa.
