GREAT story. Watching Richie play was incredible. His speed and ability to track/steal the ball is still hard for me to fathom!

Richie had such poise and I believe he's partially responsible for DJ's great season. The guy was completely even-keeled and cool under intense pressure. Now, I see the same thing from DJ. I think the younger guys now, like Xavier Thames and Labradford Franklin, are watching DJ, soaking it up, and will show the same poise and leadership. Richie has established a high bar of excellence that will probably continue long after DJ.

Having Richie graduate helps our APR status, right?

PG skills aside, what I always remember about him is that he has an uncanny knack for grabbing rebounds. It was unbelievable how often he would run in from the perimeter on someone else's missed shot to the exact spot the rebound would eventually come to and end up taking it away from guys a foot taller than he was.
Way to grab that piece of paper, Richie!!

Having Richie graduate helps our APR status, right? absolutely , that's why Fisher's quote included the commitment to the program part - I think you have 6 years to complete a degree to avoid a ding.

Williams is another in a long line of quality kids that Fish has recruited.

Somebody get this story to Angelo Chol. This recruit needs to see the real Steve Fisher. A coach that will back you when your down and even after you have finished your playing days for him still wants you do the right thing and get your degree. Fisher is the real deal. This off the court support of his players goes so much farther towards making them men and productive citizens than the production of wins and losses. Of course, winning doesn't hurt.
These other coaches, do they back their players like this? From what I have heard, not really. Fisher is the elite standard to which all coaches should aspire to be. Chol, stay in SD. Play for the man.

Sorry, no chance on Chol. Pac 10 or SEC bound. Guess he's afraid to play with the big boys.

And, next time the team experiences a loss or a down year, I am sure people will be calling for him to be fired. It is awesome that the team has had and will continue to have on court success but the type teaching Fisher does with his team goes far beyond hoops and that is what is most important.
