If you are selected as the best player in California, but not a McDonald's All-American, there is something seriously wrong with the process. It's hard to argue against his point.

If you are the best player or Mr. Basketball in CA then it follows you should be a McDonalds AA or a Big Mac at least!

Glad he was not a MAA with more hype; if he was we might not have gotten him.

KL's omission by MDAA has been well-documented. KL didn't play hoops his freshman year of h.s. He went to try out for the team, but either didn't have a pair of bball shoes, or forgot to bring them to school. As a result, he wasn't on the AAU club radar. And once he got on the radar, he wasn't able to climb the rankings quickly enough by his jr. year, which is when these things are decided.
Ergo, if you're a 6'2" sophomore with so-so skills, but then grow to be a 6'10" jr. with pretty good skills before turning into a 6'11" sr. with outrageous skills, you probably won't make the MDAA list.

Tom Brady was selected unanimously the league MVP .. but Aaron Rogers Super Bowl MVP (This is what happened to Leonard). He was having a great, but unspectacular senior season when they picked the McD teams. At this point he even split the Riverside County POY honor with Snaer. But after the selection he carried his team deep into the state playoffs, past teams that featured McD all americans, which won the CA POY honor.

McDonalds AA selections are as flawed as the Heisman selections.

You just proved my point, there is an issue with the process. In this case it appears they select the McD AA's too soon.
