A lot of times its about the matchups. Last year SDSU won in Vegas, partly I believe, because we matched up well with UNLV and NM. Two teams we beat. We've been unsuccessful against BYU but we didn't have to play them in the tourney.

Numbers and algorithms are what they are, but it seems like UNLV would have a better than 5.87% chance of winning it on their home court.
This is why the match-ups are always so key. I'll feel so much more at ease when we see the bracket and we only need to potentially face one of the "Big Two" (BYU and UNLV) instead of one in the semis and the other in the finals.

I'm not a gambler but if I were.... Don't feel frustrated, don't feel "dissed". Just recognise that they got it wrong and look at this as an opportunity to bet against BYU. BYU at 50% to win the MWC championship??? These guys have lost to two unranked teams, UCLA and New Mexico, and they will not be playing on home court and not at altitude. If we win out they will have to probably face Colorado State, who are hot right now, and then they will have to play us. 50% odds!!!!! Of those traveling to Las Vegas to see the game, I don't think you will find someone stupid enough to take your bet. But please try.

I know of at least one handicapper (one very solid guy) that has placed a wager on SDSU to win the national title.

I'm still in denial (call me foolish after the last decade ), but I can't put a line (price) on how thrilled I'd be if they even made it to the final four, so betting $10 or $100 or $1000 on them doesn't really interest me in comparison. That said, most casinos were offering between 25-1 and 40-1 on the Aztecs to win it all when I was over there about a month ago.

I know of at least one handicapper (one very solid guy) that has placed a wager on SDSU to win the national title. Why not? Do you see a clear cut favorite out there that jumps into your face and says, "Bet Me.?" If you can get long odds, why not bet the best long odds team that jumps out at you? At this point, SDSU looks as good a long odds bet as any.

How is that frustrating? They beat us by double digits and have a higher RPI.

I know of at least one handicapper (one very solid guy) that has placed a wager on SDSU to win the national title. I also have a non Aztec fan co-worker who put money on the Aztecs to go all the way. He waited until after our loss to BYU to place the bet so the odds were even better.

Whoever thinks YBU is a better choice to win the conference tournament than us doesn't know diddly squat about the history of the thing. There's a reason the Borg wanted it moved away from the T&M. Also, although our chances of winning the whole enchilada are slim, their's are none. YBU still isn't athletic enough overall.

My reasoning was just that if they win I will be so thrilled that the 3000 dollars would just be icing on the cake. If they lose it was just another lost bet.

www.vegasinsider.com/college-basketball/odds/futures/ has us and BYU as 35/1 to win the tournament. Both teams, interestingly enough, opened at 60/1. They don't have any betting odds listed for winning the MWC. I doubt if that loss to BYU had much influence on our odds. It is interesting that Duke is still only 3/1 and the last team listed ASU is 300/1. 31 teams have odds and you can bet on any other teams and get 25/1 ESPN says Texas has a 17% chance to win it all and vegas says they are 12/1. 12/1 seems like good odds for them.

I think the reason BYUs odds are better than ours in the MWC tournament is, as it stands right now we would have UNLV and NM in our bracket and their bracket would have only CSU to get by to the finals. Our odds might get better if BYU finished ahead of us.
