The article does mention that Tony is getting control of his face again.

I hope Gwynn does the right thing and prohibits his players from chewing tobacco during team practices or games. He needs to set a precedent for the game, the habit is out of control.

I'm glad he is recovering and getting back control of his life. But this quote disturbs me:
Might have been? I mean, c'mon, every time I would see him slide into 2nd base with that chewing tobacco pouch sticking out of his back pocket, I used to say, "why in the hell are you doing that stuff?" Everybody knew at that time that it caused cancer. EVERYBODY.
Such a waste. I hope his recovery is permanent.
