Tell me I'm high. I keep thinking things shake out like this: Big 12 picks up BYU and TCU to get back to 12. PAC picks up Utah to get to 12 and we're left with Boise and the 7 dwarfs.

My fear is that if we lose even a single one of the top MWC programs, the whole thing comes unraveled. If that happens, we won't be playing football in a few years.

Could be. But it looks more likely that the Big12 will disintegrate and the MWC will come out a big winner.

Everything I read is that the Pac 10 will be pick up 4-5 Big 12 teams. If that is the case, the Big 12 is dead and no way our top teams go to a conference with Kansas, Kansas St. Iowa State, Missouri & Baylor. I still think if Texas A&M goes to the SEC, then the Pac 10 will need one more team - and Utah could be it. That being said, Utah must also consider that the MWC will also get stronger if they stay with the likely additions of some of the remaining Big 12 teams.

I believe that the MWC is easily in a better position than the Big XII as it stands today. The unanimous decision to add Boise is a show of solidarity. I think at WORST, we lose Utah. And there are schools out there that won't necessarily "replace" the Utes, but would be a nice fill. Great move yesterday IMO. My fear is that if we lose even a single one of the top MWC programs, the whole thing comes unraveled. If that happens, we won't be playing football in a few years.

That was conceivable a week ago. Not now. Once the governing boards of Texas and Texas Tech meet on Tuesday, there won't be a Big 12 anymore.

Thats the way things are looking right now. Think logically. The only conferences that had the MWC in their sights are PAC-10 (as a back up plan) and Big -12 (which should be gone by Wednesday morning) The only real question is if Texas A&M goes to PAC-10 or SEC. If not PAC-10, they will use back up plan and get a team from the MWC. Thats about it. Big East, ACC, SEC, Big-10 aren't coming this far west. It will probably be the Big Easts turn to get eaten up by Big-10 and ACC. If you hear Texas A&M goes to the PAC-10, the MWC can go unscathed, and come out a lot stronger.

I think Choop is right with his analysis. I think the Utah question, or the worry about the conference falling apart, was answered by Boise. They wouldn't have jumped on a sinking ship.
