The ONLY reason CU is now in the PAC-10, despite having a horrible football team, and a beyond horrible basketball team, and academics that are well below PAC-10 standards, is that: (1) the Denver market is substantial; and (2) and it supports CU in good times and bad.
Same general size of market here, but the support? Don't think so. At some point, this is going to be the downfall of this program.

Last time I checked the The Pac 10 didn't have any schools in Colorado...unlike sothern Californmia. UCLA and USC would never let SDSU into the Pac 10 regardless of quality of sports teams and fan support, much like Texas would never let TCU into the big 12.

Colorado was the blocking pawn in this conference realignment. Bohn for whatever we think of him used the PAC 10's need to control the inflow into the conference by going to 11 now. Bohn was thaeir pawn. It also starts the run on the Big 12. The PAC 11 now goes to Texas, OK and OK State to move. Trust me they are a package. Texas then says we get 2 more picks to round out the conference, TAM and TT. No Baylor. If Bohn isn't in place, the PAC 10 might have to take them; think Baylor is better academically than U of C. Thought the PAC11 was all about academics.
So Bohn was the blocking pawn to keep Baylor out , start the swan song of the Big 12 and the PAC 11 could cherry pick the Big 12 having gotten the Denver market earlier. Nice strategy, good execution by the PAC 11.
The PAC 10 came to play and won.
Oh I know they still need those 5 BIG 12 er 10 schools to fall into line.

Not so sure. CU has more influence in Denver than CSU does...but, Denver is a pro city. They love the Broncos.

No one ever said SDSU could go to the PAC-10 -- of course that is never going to happen. But just like the continued support by CU fans despite a brutal product on the field helped lead to its inclusion in the PAC-10, the converse here at SDSU is hurting both this school and the conference. Who ever thought 10 years ago that SDSU would be the biggest drag on this conference? And before people start talking about the progress of the BB team, all these recent happendings show that in the bigger picture, no one gives a $#!+ about college BB.

My dad lived "that" far from Boulder, and worked in Denver, and I used to visit a bunch. CU it 5 times more popular in the Denver Metro area, they also have a great football stadium. CSU is the Step-son.
