I have been on the Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State boards every day for the last week. None of those fans want to join the MWC.

They don't understand the MWC, they know nothing about the MWC. They all want to get in the Big East right now.

That's probably correct, but it's also likely they look down on the MWC because they think that they are BCS caliber, even though they are not - they've mostly been patsies for their conference big boys. Iowa St. has had some winning seasons since 2000, when they went 9-3, but never more than 7 wins in any of those seasons with some really, really bad seasons mixed in.

Kansas and KSU haven't had much of anything since 2000 other than Kansas having 2 good years in 2007 and 2008 before dropping back to 5-7 last year.

What these clowns are really worried about is that they may not get to share the BCS bucks anymore and that scares the piss outta them because without those bucks, they will not have the resources to compete against the strongest MWC conference. What they should figure out is that the Big Least will be so decimated in this process that it will be lucky to remain in the BCS. Hell, as it stands, the MWC should have taken their place a couple years ago.

I am at a loss here. Yes the Big Least is a BSC football conference that is probably a "mid-major" in reality. With no Notre Dame there, their whole "prestige" thing lies with basketball. Pitt and WV are OK but not giants. What happens if ND actually accepts a Big Ten offer?

Frankly I could care less about Iowa St., Baylor, etc. But does Bill Self and the Kansas crew drool over playing in the Big Least every year? They are in no way doing BCS Bowl games like the Utes and BS. Thus they rely on Bball for their prestige. There are too many superpowers in basketball there for them to think they can walk in and dominate it.

Maybe the fans there would love to visit Washington DC and Boston over Norman and Dallas, I don't know. But the J Hawks can be reduced to a normal fish in a big pond going to the Big Least. And losing early in the conference tournament could reduce their seed low enough that it wouldn't be pretty for them. Syracuse and Georgetown are not planning on laying down for them and they aren't going anywhere in this conference shuffle.

I think cooler heads might prevail with both Kansas and K State. I am sure they listen to ESPN and think we are a Mickey Mouse conference. But logic should prevail and they should know that they could be a force in the new MWC.

It's still too early to speculate on anything atm until the (bleep) starts to fly next week. But I think that anyone with half a brain will look at what has been going on (Colorado made a Bohnhead move going to Pac-losers) and where their future lies. Lots of exposure and wins for J-Hawk basketball here. Not so in the Big Least.

The MtnW put the brakes on BSU when the Pac took Colorado because it thought Utah was next, and simultaneously it looked like the Big 12 was about to crumble. Instead of bringing in BSU, the MtnW was thinking Kansas and K-State to replace Utah and bring its total to 10. But then, Utah wasn't next for the Pac. The MtnW's invitation to BSU was back on. In short, the MtnW knows that the Pac-10 is not going to invite Utah.

That's my guess.

I turned on the engine yesterday and Rivals Radio was the first thing on and they were playing a sound bite from a presser and the guy talking was having a verbal orgasm he was so obviously delighted. I thought, Who IS this clown?

Well, it was that very former SDSU AD. Dude was just gushing over what a great move this was for CU. Bohnhead indeed. CU will essentially be moving from a very weak Big 12 North, in which the Buffaloes just finished 2-6 in conference, to the Big 12 South minus Baylor plus ASU and Arizona. And CU has just lost four scholarships for the next three years.

Bohn hired Dan Hawkins and is now stuck with him because CU's athletic budget is so far in the red. Now this. I'd put the over/under on when Bohn gets fired as two years.

(Hopefully, if Jim Sterk doesn't work out, SDSU won't be dumb enough to take Bohn back.)
