Neither is McCain and a large section of Republicans. Are they wrong as well? Look you can't invade Iraq to spread Democracy in the region and then support a dictator in Egypt when the people want free elections. So why shouldn't these people be free to elect who they want? Just because it may be anti Israel isn't reason enough. The only thing we can do is withdraw any kind of financial support in the future. In the long run it's the right thing to do even if there are negative consequences right now. The Egyptian Govt is already going after journalists, I can only imagine what they have in mind once the cameras are gone if it doesn't get settled soon. The ultimate question is do we want to spread Democracy or not? You can't have it both ways. Any war in the near future between Israel and the neighboring Arab countries will be nuclear. Israel will use what ever it needs to remain free of Arab oppression. To them the only good politically active Arab is a dead one always rings true. nonsense. nuclear war is a rubicon that israel can't cross without putting themselves completely on an island with no support from any other country in the west/world. Such a demented, lustful hope for the world to end biblical stylee,

Such a demented, lustful hope for the world to end biblical stylee, Joe likes to write in apocalyptic tones. It's one of his trademarks. Did read a book recently where most of the U.S. is wiped out by some unidentified "energy wave". Israel goes on the attack, dropping nukes on pretty much every Arab capital plus nuking Aswan, thereby wiping out 90 percent of the Egyptian population. Despite Joe's love for Mosad, don't kid yourself - if Israel ever believed the survival of the nation was in doubt, they'd nuke whoever they saw as the act that would stop the danger. Had a Jewish friend in college back in '68 who claimed that Israel was at a crossroads because they were moving away from their great experiment in socialism in order to face the reality of their survival and the American left, who was fully supportive of the country would have to deal with it. First time I wrote that, a number of years ago, Joe claimed the guy was engaging in "Jewish self-hate" or words to that extent, but 40 years later it still amazes me how right my friend was. =Bob

part of the aspect of a nuclear option for israel is if LA had to nuke, pasadena, anahehim, san diego, phoenix, saugaus, ventura, etc. It's biting a cyanide tablet. Joe just waits until the wife goes to the store, grabs the lube, and thinks about John's Apocalypse until he explodes
