Maybe they can exchange names with the Big 10 after the Big 10 admits Nebraska.
This makes me wonder what is more valuable. 1. 1/60 of BCS and NCAA basketball money. 2. 1/12 of Football championship money. Those are the direct differences to each team in a 10 team conference versus a 12 team conference. They add #1 and subtract #2 from their conference monies. Across time it will change if the number BCS and/or NCAA appearances change due to the reduction in numbers.

Any chance of CSU going to Pac-10? That would fit their current mold.

Not really. It appears Texas and Texas A&M are talking to the SEC, but most figure they will announce for PAC-10 with TT, OK, and OK ST

Too funny that the Pac-10 readily gobbles up Colorado - just sanctioned for academic progress problems - while turning us away for "academic" reasons. It's all about access to TV markets and San Diego is just viewed as a suburb of Los Angeles.

Yep.
Colorado = NCAA sanctions USC = NCAA sanctions
...hmm...maybe USC was just looking for a new travel partner.

I never thought TMZ would be a college sports source.

If you notice the last quote. This is the first step to a playoff system that everyone wants. This is what I've been saying about the 4 mega conferences having division winners playing each othe, then conference winners playing and finally the last two playing for the national championship. So the MWC gets left out and there will still be a playoff sysytem. The mega conferences win all around and the MWC loses all around! Damn!!!!

If they stay independent, then there will be a chance for non Mega-4 teams to get into the neoBCS. If they cave and join the Big10, then likely the Big10 will add both Nebraska and Mizzou/Rutgers/Syracuse to get to an even number of teams.

Pac 16 + Big 16 = No BCS bids.
I really think they are setting this up to kill the BCS and the take all the power away from the SEC.

I'm pretty sure the Fiesta Bowl & BC$ bids are tied to the Big Smell conf. not to the teams so if there is a Big Smell/MWC merger then the MWC gets a bid. We'll see!

The MWC will counter with a 14 team league that includes:
SDSU Utah BYU UNLV Boise St. Colorado St. Air Force
Kansas Kansas St. Missouri Baylor TCU Wyoming New Mexico
I addition to being a BCS conference by 2012, the new MWC will be an extremely strong basketball conference with the addition of Kansas, K-State,Missouri and Baylor to UNLV, SDSU, BYU, Utah and UNM.
This is why they waited to invite Boise. Now these Big 12 teams that are left out of the Pac need a landing spot, and the MWC will take advantage of their desperation.

That would be a killer conference. Weber mentioned somewhere there are still some cards to play about enticing Utah to stay. I hope he's right.

I would love to see the below conference in any variation of those teams/divisions. I think I rate the possibility as extremely unlikely. However, If we can hold the current members together I think I like the chances much better. The MWC will counter with a 14 team league that includes: SDSU Utah BYU UNLV Boise St. Colorado St. Air Force Kansas Kansas St. Missouri Baylor TCU Wyoming New Mexico I addition to being a BCS conference by 2012, the new MWC will be an extremely strong basketball conference with the addition of Kansas, K-State,Missouri and Baylor to UNLV, SDSU, BYU, Utah and UNM.
