I don't follow it as much as I used to but if I saw that site I would initally think its cool but the reference to "BCS level talent" would put me off.
Good site though otherwise

Nobody follows SD HS recruiting here? We do but these kinds of posts usually are in the Aztec section. You can put it in that section and say it is Aztec related because it would involve potential Aztec recruits. One good thing that did come from Coach Hoke is that he did put us back on the local map in SD county and SoCal. As stated in past threads, past SDSU coaches wouldn't even bother with certain players or high schools. But not with the past coaching staff. It was noted that Brian Sipe was really putting himself and SDSU out there on the local recruiting trails. Let's see if the mods can move this to the Aztec section... There are plenty of posters on this site that have connections and have very good insite to the local recruiting. They may just not have had a chance to see this thread yet. Welcome to the board braveheart!!

You can add Colo St QB Pete Thomas too and others that I'm sure I forgot right now. SD has a history of producing great football talent (Marcus Allen, Ricky Williams, and on and on). If we go back through the years I bet that there is a class that can match 2009. But a very good class it was.

Just looked at the site. Very good recap of the top talent for 2012. Is this guy a scout? Or a local writer who covers SD high school football? Just curious to see how he would rank a prospect (BCS level) and others not.

Just curious to see how he would rank a prospect (BCS level) and others not. First, thanks for the welcome. He's just a regular guy who lives in the area and loves football (almost all of us on that site are like that), and our resident SD guy. Maybe I should bring him over to this board and he can explain? As for his description, maybe he believes the highlighted prospects will obtain BCS offers during their recruitment, or that they have the measureables that attract BCS offers? How would you have changed it, or re-worded it?

Use stars instead of "BCS-Level"

Use stars instead of "BCS-Level" Stars as in the word, or the stars ranking of 1 through 5? As for the ranking part, when The Ringer releases their 2012 recruiting database, most of the names listed should be ranked (using the stars method).

The BCS wording is okay but I would probably use the star rating. I don't really like saying that if you play for SDSU or a team in the MWC/Sun Belt/MAC, etc that you are not good enough to play at the schools that are more known (6 bcs conference schools). We have seen that "smaller" type schools can play with and do beat the "bigger" schools. So I would like to not really categorize what school you are good enough for and not. Good players DO play for non-bcs type schools as we have seen. Thanks again for sharing that site.

I don't think he was dismissing the players who didn't have the "BCS" tag (he wouldn't have even mentioned them if he did), but just informing the readers of the players he believes will garner BCS offers. Once again, I need to get him on here so some of you guys can talk. I'm originally from the San Fernando Valley, live in Pasadena, and moving to Florida, so I don't know most of the SD scene when it comes to the players this year. I hit him up yesterday, and he said he'd come through. You guys can find him at www.theringer.com/forums/forum.php His screen name is WestCoastNoleFan, and mine is Braveheart.

Hello people,
I'm the writer of the 2012 San Diego Watch List. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions any of you guys may have. My apologies if the wording may have been off-putting to anyone. All the kids on the list are talented in their own right, as Braveheart mentioned. The BCS level notation was just to alert the reader of some of the kids on the list who may garner a bit more interest from BCS programs than most. Not meant as a slight to any of the other kids as my wish is for all of them to receive opportunities from major college programs. I'm fairly well connected at some high school programs and from time to time get calls and text alerting me to interest in a particular player. A sophomore from Eastlake HS just received an inquiry from Nebraska recently, in fact.
One of my goals is raise the profile of athletes based in the San Diego area and my affiliation with theringer.com is the avenue that I have been blessed with. So periodically, I will update the readership on this site of any prospects that SDSU may need to take an interest in. I already have my 2013 watchlist ready and will periodically update through spring evals, spring ball, and the camp circuit. I will be putting out some scouting reports on local athletes on theringer.com and you guys are more than welcome to engage in any of our discussions there as well. We would like to have a better West Coast representation

Why is it, I wonder, that Olympian has so many well-regarded players? I really know nothing about that school.
