Bill Self was in town today at Hoover practice watching Angelo Chol. Why aren't the Aztecs recruiting him? Is there some bad Jaydee Luster blood between SDSU and Hoover?

Yes, unfortunately his high school coach has made it much more of a priority to stroke his own personal ego than do what is best for the student athletes whose parents have made the mistake of allowing their sons to play for him. Unless a school administrator steps up to the plate to protect their student athletes, SDSU will never get one of their players. Coach is a sleezy scumbag.

Very much so! Chol has cooled on Udub also so it's a tossup where he goes.

wow...too bad. Kid looks amazing. Said today he has 2 visits left at Wash and Arizona. Self said they've seen him play about 20 times in person. That's pretty serious.
He said with a smile "no comment" when asked about SDSU

He would've been a great get for Fish. Unfortunate.
Maybe he'll transfer back eventually?

That is really too bad because he would be a great recruit and he is from San Diego where his friends and family could be involved. Also he could be another player to help SDSU keep their momentum going next year. These players should make up their own minds as to what is best for them and coaches should not get involved.

is his family originally from Sudan? Maybe a word or two from local guy MT would help but seems the guys from San Diego county are the toughest to get to go directly from HS to State

Unfortunately, as long as the Hoover coach is around, the Aztecs won't get any of his kids. A typical AAU kind of coach who wants nothing but the best for himself!

Hopefully the kid can see beyond his coache's personal recommendations. I don't get why a coach can't understand that JD just wasn't what we were looking for, that doesn't mean JD is a bad player or that SDSU has a bad basketball program.

Hoover has no program. Let's not worry about this douche coach. We should be thankful we don't have Luster. Similar to Withey, some of the best recruits are the one's that do get away.

There was a Chol interview on channel 8 today and it show the Kansas coach and another head coach inside the Hoover gym watching Chol practice. Steve Fisher wasn't there. Did the head coach of Hoover lock Steve Fisher out? Anyway, the head coach of Hoover kindna reminds me of the Marshamallow Man from Ghost Buster.

(sigh)...One can only wonder what impact many of the local home grown kids would have had at the Mesa in football, basketball, and other sports if they had stayed home and played for the Aztecs? Can't understand the acrimony (if that's what's going on?) that exists with a high school that is literally in the shadow of the university. Were the Aztecs locked out of the process from the get-go or what? ...I wish the kid well, but good god would he look good in red and black.

Just goes to show how slimey the recruiting game is. If Bill Self is willing to deal with this coach then let him. I am glad Fisher doesn't deal with this Guy. I am sure he tells players he can get them into a school and also collects from the university on the back end.

For those of us that don't know the whole story, can someone give some details about this? What exactly happened? How long ago? What was said? Etc...

Maybe there's some under-the-radar contact with Fish? Maybe Chol will surprise everyone.......
