This is a rumor from a source that I don't have all that much faith in but I just heard this afternoon that Rocky is going to be the head guy and the OC from a BCS school just north of us is going to be our new OC. FWIW... If true, wouldn't it be nice if it's Stanford's OC? Please, no Chow.

If you guys are happy with 7-9 win seasons this is your hire Just as Hoke did, Rocky will put together a much better staff at SDSU than he had at UNM. As proved by their fans on the MWC board, UNM emphasizes basketball to the detriment of football. Their error will not be ours.

Norm Chow? At any rate, if Rocky is the man, he is connected and will fill the OC job with with a good hire, IMO. Continuity is more important then the name. What's the continuity though? The 3-3-5 defense sure but there will be no continuity on offense. There will be continuity on offense and D. Ferigno is more a Long guy than Hoke guy TE coach stays McDaniels is a SDSU guy WR coach stays Sipe is either going to retire or stay as QB coach. That just leaves the OC, RB and OL coaches (and I think we have a good chance of keep Funk) On D We obviously will have to hire a new DC and DL coach LB coach is more than likely gone but our DB coach stays. I like how things are shaping up

Rocky always was quoted as saying he was puzzled as to why SDSU did not succeed at FB. I've always thought he was probably the MWC coach who told Chuck Long before he accepted the job that if you hit Aztecs players hard enough in the mouth they would head for the beach.

With Rocky we may just have traded up. Chow as O-Coord, fine with that for certain!

On espn, the anchor said:
"Brady Hoke replaced Jim Harbaugh at SDSU"
TWICE
Smooth, ESPN.

He could hire an OC to run pro-set. He can demand his new strength and conditioning coach use the "Wellman Manual" he can run practices exactly like they have been run for the last two years. He can recruit like they did the last two years. He can have his traveling camps, he can keep all the players comfortable allowing them to see familiar faces. The kids know he has their backs, no starting all over. No new systems to run. No learning curves. Remember how long it took the defense to come up to full speed, how long it took Lindley and Oline to mature and learn the new systems. No more of that. Lastly he is tough minded, smashmouth kind of guy. No more finesse football.

I don't think we will need a DC. I'm pretty sure Long will be the head coach and defensive coordinator. Right?

FWIW... USC and Kiffin were supposedly interested in Chow last year, look at his pay, I don't think SDSU can provide the compensationhemay want for an OC position: articles.latimes.com/2010/jan/14/sports/la-sp-norm-chow14-2010jan14Ya, but you'd have to work for Kiffin...

They won't be able to announce so soon since its a state run school and we have to officailly post it first. He will be named "interim" for the time being and the officail statement won't come out for another 2-3 weeks (if he is indeed the guy). It's not a civil service position. =Bob

Nice for an interim, but now is not the time for a retread with no real name recognition outside of the conference, nor one who already quit on a University. A university that gave him no support. Hoke quit on Ball State for the same reason. =Bob

Now we need a OC. I assume Brady is taking his staff with him. To the extent Michigan lets him. He was their 3rd or 4th choice, the fans are not at all happy and he will be on a short leash. =Bob
