It looks good to say the NRA does not support selling weapons to felons. However They lobby against any legislation that would put tough laws into effect.
You can just get a friend to buy you a gun at a gun show or you can go down to East Oakland and buy one from a criminal that just stole one from a house they robbed. Gang bangers hardly ever go to the Wal Mart to buy their guns.
In England you have to have the police come to your house and interview you on why you want to buy a gun before you can purchase one. A better check then what we have now.

NRA will give some token lip service to "keep guns away from felons and the insane"... they really want to keep the discussion away from the high capacity magazines. The main reason is to keep the manufacturers happy. As far as the argument against the nuts getting guns.... there are plenty of people in the US who if you pile on a job loss and a divorce that might feel pushed to make a statement.... happens all the time, luckily they usually just take out themselves and a couple family members instead of a bunch of Innocent bystanders.

A better check then what we have now. There are laws against straw sales, and there are laws against robbing houses. What new law would solve the problem, huh? Do you actually think an East Oakland gang-banger is going to set up an interview with the police before he buys a stolen gun from a street thug? What planet do you live on?

And you know this... how? Intuitively?
