LOL, I'm sure the "talk" was King Karl trying to call and get an appointment with Dr. Webber.
There's no way in hell SDSU would leave the MWC to go to the WAC.

Crap from a writer with zero cred and the brain of a two year old. Discount writers from the WAC as they are grasping at straws if their meal ticket BSU moves to the MWC. Texas to the SEC that is really funny.

If expansion decimates the MWC I would rather have SDSU drop football than drop down to the WAC.

I find it kind of funny. What do you expect from a conference that is looking at losing their meal ticket, and bringing in an FCS team to replace them.

I don't find the idea that SDSU, or any other University for that matter, would have discussions concerning their options insane or crazy. "Discussions" covers a wide range of what the tenor of those contacts may be. In fact, it just might be negligent for an AD not to be assessing the future based on a wide variety of scenarios. Were TCU, Utah and BYU to bolt the MWC and SDSU be caught flat footed we would again be criticizing the administration for lack of foresight. I say this not because I am in any way looking forward to a WAC future--I am NOT. This whole thing could be devastating to SDSU. That's why I don't think it is crazy for them to be looking at all the options and discussing them with other AD's/Presidents. Only makes sense. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

everyone in the MWC, and probably the WAC, knows what a sleeping giant SDSU football is. (if Cal State spending picks up and stadium issue is resolved, two BIG issues)
it would be a joke and a sign of defeat if we went back to the WAC with our tail between our legs.

I would rather play in the WAC than have no football. Renewing the rivalries with Fresneck and San Hose A St. might not be a bad thing.

Going back to the wac would assure that the sports program stays in the red - if we lost 2 million bucks last year, we'd have lost 4 or 5 million in the WAC. Going back to the wac would in essence be a trip to the Big west, read: we'd end up dropping football like the other cal states (and san jose would likely beat us there)

What do you expect from a conference that is looking at losing their meal ticket, and bringing in an FCS team to replace them. Speaking of meal tickets, Honolulu's hometown university lost theirs, June Jones. Their university and its conference are in deep $#!+ (can I say that here?) and they know it so they're grasping for straws. Chances of SDSU returning to the WAC: slim and none and slim has one foot out the door.

Rejoining the WAC is an invitation for Death to come knocking on our door. The combination of increased travel expenses and lower revenue is a recipe for disaster. If there's apathy amongst Aztec fans towards some of our MWC brethren, then The Q will definitely feel like a ghost town when New Mexico St., Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Utah St. and others comes to town.

I'm with you, Hollywood. I would rather go independent again for football as we were in the mid-seventies and join the Big West Conference for everything else than rejoin the WAC.

Ferd has a column to write and who in Honolulu is going to hold him accountable for any continuity to his string of thought?

I would be surprised if Benson has contacted either school on behalf of the conference.
I would not be surprised at all if Fresno's President had spoken with SDSU's President, and Nevada's with UNLV's. Nothing formal and the discussions have likely discussed movements both directions. In fact, I would be surprised if they hadn't had several such discussions.
But discussions are not even close to being negotiations.
Yoda out...

You know, I was thinking about this again, and I was coming to post just this, except more in a mocking way, such as: Sure, Fresno called Weber and pleaded, "please let us join, we'll be BFFs"
