That was a sad video. That's less collegiate and more corporate. As Monty said, if a player is given the gray-shirt option, he still has a shot. My gut tells me Hoke is more credible/empathetic towards his recruits than the high pressure conferences like the SEC.

The NCAA in its entirety stopped being collegiate many moons go. It's all about corporate now.

That was a very sad, and eye-opening video. If I was a recruit, I would want a guarantee on my scholarship for 4 years.

Well we've got 4 good looking "O" lineman. We need to find a couple of good looking interior "D" lineman!!!!

The SEC has no problem getting all their recruits in due to academic powerhouse majors like, "Sign or Make Your Mark", "Difference in Skipping and Walking", "Cash for Dads", "Real Estate and how not to buy your parents a house so close to San Diego State", and my favorite SEC major, "Matching SEC Mascots". HAM Apparently this is how some of the Big Boys do it. I don't know that I am real comfortable with these tactics. espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5935634&categoryid=2564308I'm speechless... You guys think any of those SEC coaches would keep King on schoolie like Coach Hoke did? Hell, NO!

Now that we have 21 commits, no way is McClure or any other star is coming to SDSU. The coaches must know that they have little or no interest in us. Not sure if we will have an "odd man out" but if we do end up with more than 20 who actually make it in then I can see some of these guys taking a gray-shirt.

Can I advise people that think they know exactly how many people Coach Hoke can offer scholarships to, to verify their knowledge with him prior to posting on here and trying to run off potential recruits.
And yes, if he says, "No comment", you should probably consider that as the word from the horse's mouth.

Darrell Greene 6'4 280 lbs olinemen from norcal not ranked by Rivals. Reggie Jones 6'6 285 lbs olinemen from Mt Miguel not ranked by Rivals. Some much needed heft added to this year's class. Both seem to have resided below the radar up till now. Nice. Going with an all high school recruiting class with intent of redshirting these kids and having them in the program for five years. THIS is how TCU and Boise have got it done.

If Greene plays BB then he has some speed..........might be a good guard.

I knew that all scholarships are only one year but I have never actually heard of a coach pulling a scholarship for other than conduct or grades (for football). I think I remember Steve Fisher pulling some scholarships in the early years for performance.

Those that just take their schollie and do nothing and those that want to play. The NCAA should give a kid who gets dropped without notice the ability to transfer to D!A school without penalty.

Agree completely. If you get "cut" you should be free to go wherever you can without penalty of dropping down a level or having to sit out.

Honor your commitments just as you expect your recruits to do. Build on a solid foundation and not a house of cards.
