I'm always willing to listen to cogent arguments -- but the "Someone could get hurt" argument is weak. Show me the line at the ER for male players from volleyball spikes. It's a volleyball, not a hockey puck.
Now the "taking a spot from someone else"... I would take into consideration. But I would need data points, not blathering internet crap.
But what I do note is there's a lot of feigned outrage by those who consider women's sports as non-revenue and therefore nothing more than a drain on resources. Those folks should see their way to the nearest exit in this debate...

OK, for you it's not an issue worth wasting your time on. For me, it is an issue I'm concerned about and I commend the women that are paying a personal cost (some their career) while standing up for women's sports.

She’s probably looking to be the next MAGA influencer to be honest. She sees dollar signs. Look at Riley Gaines as an example of this.

Those folks should see their way to the nearest exit in this debate... This. Whole lotta folks in this country who have a long history of denigrating women's sports all of a sudden have very strong feelings. If these opinions equalled actually paying for tickets... a lot more women's sports would be highly lucrative. And for the record, technically I agree with the 'protecting women's sports' crowd, just without the parroting of political talking points. Also adding: overlapping with these comments, the past few hours there's been a thread about the SDSU Women's hoops team beating Wisconsin... and not a whole lot of comments from the women's sports advocates here.

Do you think a male has an advantage over a female in sports? It depends on the underlying skill level. Could I beat Sha'Carri Richardson in the 100m or beat Caitlyn Clark 1-on-1? Hell, fking no. The player in question isn’t even the best player on the team. Wow, you remind of the late great Herb Caen used to label "The definition of unclear on the concept" Could you come up with a more lame false equivalency of a fat middle aged guy competing against the best female athletes in the world? When I was in HS I ran the 440 and my time was faster than every woman in the world ... and while I was pretty good, I was nowhere near the best male 440 runner in the country. They'd have won the woman's Olympic 440 gold at the next Olympics. Now I could probably barely run a 200 in the time the women's Olympic champ runs the 400 in. Maybe a more accurate comparison would be to talk to all the FEMALE swimmers that lost to Lia Thompson in the NCAA Swimming Championships. Thompson who was not even a mediocre MALE swimmer at Princeton decides he's a "girl", the pathetic NCAA decides it's ok to let him swim against all the female swimmers that had trained there whole lives ... and of course he won. All your posts and logic are lame and non applicable. Are really that weird a dude?

I have something to add about this conversation, but due to the downward slope in nature of this thread, I think I will just leave well enough alone.
Frome the administrator: Please refrain from making personal attacks, insults, or criticism of other board members on Aztec Mesa. It is against forum rules, and just isn't cool.
If you disagree with a comment or an opinion, have at it - but address the comment, not the person making it. Don't make things personal.
We've seen a fair amount of that over the last year or so and let too much of it slide. So, as to not let things get out of hand this is just a friendly reminder to be courteous and respectful, even if you don't agree with anything that any given board member posts.
Posting personal attacks among ourselves is pretty damned toxic, so let's not live down to what some people think of us.

As I read along I can’t help but to think about March 1966 when Texas Western College (now UTEP) won the NCAA national championship over Adolph Rupp’s all-white Kentucky team
Coach Don Haskins had the audacity to start 5 black players who, before 1954 (when the landmark case of Brown vs The Board of Education reversed 6+ decades of legal segregation) were not even allowed to attend the historically white college.
1000’s of people protested vehemently calling Haskins a sell-out to his race…perhaps what people today might call “woke”…I’m certain that fans of Kentucky were upset by their team having to play on the same floor as the black players…why couldn’t those players simply choose to play for a HBC instead of pushing their way into “traditional” NCAA teams?
You might say that this comparison is apples and oranges…and you may be right…but the principles are basically the same…people who are afraid of something they don’t understand…
Happy Thanksgiving to the entire Aztec family
