At this point in the season, with nothing to look forward to in the post season, does it really even matter?
No reason to throttle down his minutes at all. In fact, maybe they open things up a little more. If they had a back who could pass block instead of gaining a few yards even after multiple attempts, it might help O'Neil develop his passing eye.
For now, they need to play for next season. This one's essentially over.

He needs as many snaps as he can get. He’s the QB of future for SDSU.

How about having a better option sitting on the bench?
JTJ... hasn't shown anything... Crum, Duffy...?

You need to be held accountable for everything and all the time. If you excuse or allow what was one of the worst first half’s in recent memory, then you are cementing G this ooor play in the future.
I don’t see a lot of accountability on this team. A lot of excuses but not a lot of accountability.

He needs as many snaps as he can get. He’s the QB of future for SDSU. From what we've seen the past few games, maybe he has plateaued and this is as good as it gets? Seems more perspicacious to invest some real playing time in other QB's running backs, everyone. It appears we've seen the best out of what's been presented---repeatedly.

He was in high school last season. He hasn’t plateaued. This season hasn’t turned out the way we wanted it to but after losing 50% of the roster and installing new schemes on both sides of the ball it wasn’t totally unexpected.

Seems to me the season turned out about as predicted. The record is about what was expected BUT the play on the field and the lack of improvement is not what was expected. The end of season regression and the potential of another big turnover of the roster does not look good for any real improvement for next year if this staff stays the same (ie Lewis as OC)

I think this thread is dumb, but have to admit I don't know why everyone thinks O'Neil has such a bright future ahead. He seems pretty average to me, even as a true Freshman. I hope he ultimately proves me wrong.

Benching him now would be pointless, and honestly, I would have never benched him. I agree with Lewis on that.

Kneeling for the national anthem will definitely get him kicked out of D1 football...

My complaint, is with O'Neil injured, struggling and behind/out of some/a lot of games, Johnson didn't get some snaps? ? Don't even wanna get started on Cooper!!!!

Most D1 quarterbacks are going to have some encouraging high school stats. AJ Duffy threw for 5,500+ yards after his sophomore year in HS, he still hasn't seen the field for SDSU.

Every D1 QB, even the 3rd stringers had great high school stats. That's how they got the scholarship.

If Danny is sticking around and the QB of the future then I think you say screw it and get him every rep possible. Open the playbook wide open and put him in spots that might make him uncomfortable to get reps.
If Cooper keeps getting 30+ carries a game then Lewis definitely made some promises that he is keeping.
