Ask Michigan and Ohio State about that. The time zone thing seems to be having some impact on teams coming this way. I think this is somewhat unexpected. Yes, that is exactly why I made the comment. Imagine this, Clemson is undefeated going into the last week and have to play at 4 win Cal at their place. They lose and it knocks their CFP seeding way back. Or, lets say Penn St,. is in the same situation and have to travel to 3 win UCLA the final week and lose. We get the same thing when we travel to Wyoming for BB. If we win, it's expected, but we lose and it is a "bad loss" with no consideration of the travel or destination. One can only hope.

Most have more money to ease their pain. He brings that up towards the end: "However, there is more to realignment than on-field results over seven measly weeks. After all, the 10 schools didn’t decide to abandon the Pac-12 simply because they wanted tougher competition and more losses. They did it for the money and the media exposure, and those benefits remain firmly in place. Most of them are appearing regularly on major broadcast and cable networks. And there’s no chance the checks from the conference offices will bounce. For anyone wondering if there are feelings of regret on any of the 10 campuses, allow us to interject: No chance."

They now have much more exposure, showing just how bad their football programs really are!
That'll help recruiting and bring in more donations from boosters!

None of them got more money over the next three to seven years depending on school… Calford got way less money OU and UW got about the same for the next three years when looking at their shares and added costs Colorado, UU, UofA and ASU all got about what they would have got, but more certainty…

Probably true for the administration. Coaches, players and fans might have a different answer.

Also, UDub and Oregon get half media shares in the B1G while Calford gets a 1/3 share in the ACC. Oregon has Phil Knight and his money, but the other schools will be at a financial disadvantage in their new digs..

What kind of deal did Stanford get ?

similar to other BIG schools that have been added to the conference - they want the added schools for the Viewers - while the schools get what it seems is important Money and maybe some prestige
Has any added school to the BIG ever won a BIG championship in football NO
Could it work for the Ducks ?
In addition what will happen to the Non football teams and their grades / but we also know they will not care as long as they get the big money
But let's be real HS kids are still going to be going to the former PAC schools
For Tv Networks they only will be looking at the numbers of TV Viewers
How many people watched the Ducks vs Buckeyes game ? guess it was a very large number

Why would any of the teams that left for a P4 conference stayed at only 20 million a year? The ACC and big 12 schools are all getting more now or will be in the near future. Calford would be making more without all the travel. The other schools would have less travel and the league would have an auto-berth to the CFP. If the new PAC can get $15M, then I expect this PAC format would get close to $25M. The nPAC also is rewarding teams for success. CalFord wants nada to do with the State School version of the Pac. Hence their choice to play in the ACC. ASU and Utah would prefer to be in a PAC with CalFord. However, without a more generous TV deal, it is what it is. Watch for far flung Conferences to start placing their lower level Sports in more regionalized Leagues.

As long as the former PAC schools are getting the big money they will just continue to blend into their conferences .
Do not look for any to be coming back to the PAC - as some are hoping they might but it is not going to happen - ego is a tough thing to swallow
Fox facilitated the move to the BIG - and think they are not losing out on the deal
ACC is way behind the BIG and SEC but might be still considered a P4 conference for how long is a question -
Big 12 seems to be above the ACC in football and this is mostly about football over Basketball
So better come to grips that the teams will most likely stay where they are even if they are not a top contender for Football Champs and fans should not expect a fall back into the PAC - they are not going to admit it is as good as they had hoped but they can survive and SDSU has to look forward with out them . Pride is a very strong emotion and the former PAC schools will ever admit they made a mistake

The only school with a snowballs chance in hell of coming back to the PAC is Cal, because it is a public school with students and faculty that aren't complete slaves to the Athletic Department. The conservative folks here might not like the school, but they actually care about education costs, and providing a real education to their student athletes, so that might work in our favor.
The new PAC is trying to show the new TV value of the conference to them, specifically, hoping they come back.
They already know everyone else is gone for good.

Until the next round of realignment happens and the P2 come together to handpick the 30 or so schools they deem worthy of joining their new league. Teams that will not make the cut are: UCLA ASU or Zona (maybe both) Cal Stanford The Entire Big 12 Will have to lobby hard: Utah Colorado At that point, a move for regionality will make sense for the "leftover" schools.

Pride is a very strong emotion and the former PAC schools will ever admit they made a mistake Cal is drowning in debt, and they're not getting much more from the ACC than they would from the new PAC. The travel costs for basketball, baseball, softball, olympic sports, etc, will be astronomical. They can't afford to stay in the ACC - and the ACC won't want them because of their other members hating the travel to the West Coast. Cal is coming back at some point. They can't afford not to. UCLA? Would the BIG 12 really be a better bet for them? Probably not. How many years as cellar dwellers before their fans and boosters riot? They're never going to be contenders in the BIG 10. Ever. USC is now a middle of the pack team in the B1G. Congrats! They'll probably stay, and forever tarnish their reputation as championship contenders. With all the added travel expenses and the inability to win there will be a lot of pressure from both inside and outside their athletic departments to do SOMETHING to stop the bleeding.

Nebraska has been a cellar dweller ever since they moved to the BIG, but they aren't going anywhere. They just keep firing coaches every five years, hoping things will be different. Rinse and repeat. USC will be the same. Oklahoma is learning that in the SEC. Those were all big-time schools that now will never sniff the National Championship. They were the big fish in their small pond, but now will enter mediocrity. Money rules, it's how it is.

a lot of wishful thinking
Exit Fees and Pride are quite important
For the BIG and its Network the important things are TV Audiences are they getting good TV audiences from the LA - Oregon - and State of state of Washington ? they do not care where the former PAC schools are in the standings as long as they get the TV Viewers
Stanford and CAL - do they draw many TV Viewers ? but their teams are earning a lot of mileage points
Sure seems that the important games are in the SEC
Has the Big 12 added that many TV Viewers ? from Arizona - Colorado and state of Utah ?
