I am sure Hawaiians are looking forward to that 7,000 mile round trip to Laramie, WY to play a 90 minute volleyball match, or to play WBB in January and go from 75 and sunny to below freezing snow and a 2 day road trip of dangerous mountain passes to get there.

When you are looking at Montana, Dakotas, NM State, etc. Hawaii starts to look pretty good…

Other than Memphis n Tulane, this seems like the most logical school despite travel. Half the teams going there every other year and guessing Oly's can scheduled for tri meets and multiple game trips to limit travel. Let's get to TV!!!!

Yeah, but Big West schools have figured out how to do it for years... Hawaii pays travel subs to the BW Schools. Most are near major airports. The MW is a bigger stretch. Laramie to Honolulu ? That's a full days travel.

Yeah, but Big West schools have figured out how to do it for years... NM, UTEP, WYOMING Albuquerque and El Paso have direct flights to the Rock. AFA and UW have to bus to Denver. UNR may have to get a connecting flight to SFO or LAS. The travel in the Pac will be tougher than the MW. The biggest factor is fewer elevation games.

Bad deal for Hawaii - they should stand pat and hope for a P12 offer.

The biggest factor is fewer elevation games. I know El Paso airport very, very well. I can say on good authority there are no nonstops from ELP to anywhere in Hawaii. There's not many nonstops out of ELP into anywhere for that matter. For as much as El Paso has grown (population approaching 700K now) it's still a difficult airport to get into. ABQ is a bigger airport but I doubt they have nonstops to Hawaii either. In the Big West they could fly into Long Beach. Both Southwest and Hawaiian have nonstops right into LGB. It's 5 minutes from the CSULB campus, then they could drive 20 minutes down the road to play CSUF and 45 minutes down the road to play UCR. If they wanted to get creative they could drive south and hit UCSD and UCI on the same road trip. Super easy travel for them in that conference. They could cover all of their road basketball games on 2-3 flights to the mainland.

When Texas State turned down the MW, they either had to work with Hawaii or invite NMSU.
Hawaii isn’t an option for the Pac. They know who they are adding. It’s just working out the media package and seeing how many programs the new media partner wants but still put us at over $10M per school.

You can kiss Memphis & Tulane Good Bye if that is the case. The travel will be unbearable for Memphis & Tulane going to Hawaii. They won't buy into that.

I think at this point only schools that will add media value will be added to the PAC12.

Yeah, but Big West schools have figured out how to do it for years... Yeah, I am sure BB players from Wyoming and AFA are going to love the 7.5 hour flight from Denver and New Mexico is looking at over 9 hours with no direct flights. No direct flights from Reno either.

Hawaii will probably get a little extra change from the departing teams exit fees to become a full member.
