Seems to me that I read a quote that Gonzaga would not do anything (join PAC) until the conference was "complete". I assumed that meant a conference of 8 full members, so at least one more full-sports with football. Sound familiar? Are you asking if Gonzaga knows what is about to happen, then yes How soon is “about to happen”?

Are you asking if Gonzaga knows what is about to happen, then yes How soon is “about to happen”? Great question… Gonzaga was 95% done for more than 10 days and then over 48 hours it was done… my point was that they know who the conference is negotiating with and where those negotiations sit… and that they were comfortable saying yes…

Sticking finger down my throat, gag, and puke Say it ain't so. Talk about strange bedfellows. If the P2 goes through with this, there will be nothing but remorse -- akin to hooking up with a bimbo at closing time, discovering she looks much, much worse in the light of day and with sober eyes, and then trying to figure out how to sneak her out of the house before your roommate sees the two of you together (or so I'm told).

The Gary Parrish Show today on Gonzaga joining the Pac. Gary Parrish and Bennett are pissed that Memphis is not in this league. I believe that media folks like these will have some impact the decision that the AD ultimately makes. They are speaking on behalf of the feelings of the fans and donors of Memphis sports. They want Memphis playing Gonzaga and SDSU every year in basketball. They want Memphis playing Boise State and Washington State in football. They get that it does not make geographical sense, but don't care, because they say nothing in college sports makes geographical sense anymore. I am becoming more and more convinced that Memphis ends up in the Pac along with at least Tulane or UTSA, and possibly all four of the AAC 4 (Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, USF). www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEwbllKnpb4It makes geographic sense now, with Utah State in there to go along with Colorado State. Travel won't be that bad for Memphis or Tulane. They really should join the PAC. It would be best for all involved. Memphis concerns are in getting their Olys to Pullman, Corvallis, and Logan for a two hour event.

The Big East has a basketball TV deal they just signed for $75-$80 million per year. There are 11 teams in the Big East, so that is an average of about $7 million per school per year. So yes, with Gonzaga and SDSU and maybe Memphis soon, there is absolutely TV value in basketball and the league should negotiate their basketball contract independently from their football contract. If basketball is worth even 2/3 of the Big East deal signed a few months ago, that gets to around $4.5 -$5 million just for basketball which is probably more than the MWC is worth overall. I understand that you're factoring in the two-thirds payout structure, but you may have overestimated the basketball value of the PAC schools. While they are likely to be highly ranked and participate in postseason tournaments, their overall media value might not match your expectations. In contrast, the Big East schools are well-established basketball powerhouses (Gonzaga & SDSU are "perennial" West Coast powers), located in major cities across the East Coast and Midwest. Big East schools benefit from being in high-value media markets, which significantly boosts their appeal to broadcasters and advertisers. Here's the complete list of all 11 Big East Conference schools and their cities: Butler University – Indianapolis, Indiana (DMA #25) Creighton University – Omaha, Nebraska (DMA #72) DePaul University – Chicago, Illinois (DMA#3) Georgetown University – Washington, D.C. (DMA#7) Marquette University – Milwaukee, Wisconsin (DMA#37) Providence College – Providence, Rhode Island (Boston DMA #10) Seton Hall University – South Orange, New Jersey (suburban New York Metro, DMA #1) St. John's University – Queens, New York (suburban New York Metro, DMA #1) Villanova University – Villanova, Pennsylvania (suburban Philadelphia, DMA #4) Xavier University – Cincinnati, Ohio (DMA #35) University of Connecticut (UConn) – Storrs, Connecticut (suburban New York Metro, DMA #1)The New York Metro InfluenceThe Big East benefits heavily from its presence in and around the New York Metropolitan area, the largest and most valuable media market in the U.S. Three schools—Seton Hall, St. John’s, and UConn—have direct or indirect access to this market. This creates a significant media footprint, offering advertisers access to over 20 million people. Sports media rights, particularly for basketball, hold high value here, as New York is a dominant market for college basketball viewership. Seton Hall and St. John’s especially benefit from their proximity to New York City, where media buyers can tap into the broader influence of NYC sports culture, making them prime assets in the Big East Conference. This combination of national reach (via major cities like Chicago, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia) and local influence (from smaller but passionate markets like Cincinnati and Milwaukee) gives the Big East Conference a well-balanced media value, particularly powerful in high-profile sports like basketball. 30+ years of media buying & Network TV experience tells me so. Media value is also subjective. ESPN has always carried wood for Gonzaga and Boise

Cal/Stanford will never come back to the Pac-12 with GCU in it. Mind blowing that a "for profit" private Christian university would even be considered. I would take BYU over them!

I like that Gonzaga has Men's soccer And baseball. If we add no other soccer schools I expect we could grab a couple of schools that compete in the WAC. SJSU and UNLV would be the obvious choices unless Nevarez forbids them from signing with the PAC. The Pac currently has four baseball Schools. OSU, Gonzaga, Fresno, and SDSU. The MW has five: AFA, UNM, Joser, Nevada, and UNLV. Do they merge for baseball ?

Ross Dellenger reporting media negotiations next then an 8th for football.
@rossdellenger The Pac-12 needs one more full member to reach FBS qualification. The expectation is that the league will explore media rights packages with its current 8 members before adding more schools at a later date. No serious negotiations currently happening, per those with knowledge.
