Good for him. Really tough to win at Fresno. Hope he gets a 2nd bite of the HC apple after a couple of years.

I always liked Hutson but am a little disappointed with the way he left Fresno State. I'm not sure if the extra cash sttlement he received is going to offset the damage it did to his reputation.

Great hire by USD. You can never have enough former head coaches on staff. Something Lewis should take a lesson from Steve Lavin.
As to him getting another opportunity, he is still young enough to get another HC job. Loved that he took the opportunity and made some money. His dad was a long time HS coach in the Bakersfield area, and has strong ties to CSUB. Once Rod Barnes retire he will be the favorite for that position. I can also see him being hired at UCSD or Cal Poly down the road. As to the lawsuit, I understood where he was coming especially from a mix race. Wont comment on it, as it would take thousands pages on this board.

Per SDUT Zeigler, Hutson is NOT getting paid, he is volunteering. “I’m just helping out, volunteering,” Hutson said. “All of a sudden, I get all these texts saying, ‘Congrats.’ I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ I couldn’t be on the floor coaching with Stacie, and this was a chance to get out there, coaching players. That’s what I do. I’m a basketball coach.” Hutson remains on the USD website. But after initially being listed as assistant coach (Division I programs are allowed three), on Tuesday he just had the title of “volunteer.”
This is similar to when Sam Scholl, formerly of USD was a volunteer with SDSU during the 2022-2023 season.

"Assistant Coach in Waiting."
They probably don't have the budget to afford him, yet.
