the kicker did not lose the game. he made 2 mistakes. how many mistakes and bone head plays did the rest of the team make? how many blown blocks did the o line have? bet it was more than 2. how many dropped passes? more than 2. how many missed tackles? more than 2. how many dumbshi* calls did the coaches make? more than 2. it's a team game----the whole lot from players to coaches to administrators lost the game. NOT just the kicker. don't make the kicker a scape goat. even groza and blanda missed some.

the kicker didn't do his job twice. again, how many MORE times did the rest of the team not do their jobs? incomplete and dropped passes are players not doing their jobs, o linemen missing blocks are not doing their jobs. the d gave up 22 points, with a last second winning field goal. guess some players ween't doing their jobs. the coaches ran the ball up the middle over and over. guess they weren't doing their jobs. lewis was hired. guess the ad wasn't doing his job. nope, kicker did not lose the game.

So, let me get this straight... The clock was running and the play clock was down to one second and the opponent was going to have to rush a kick while thinking about the clock (or take a 5 yard penalty), and not only did Sean Lewis not say that it was a mistake, he said...
“I can’t take those timeouts with me,” Lewis said. “I guess we might as well give them something to think about as we go and utilize all the options we have at our disposal.”
Wow.

Hard to have a "killer mentality" when you lack full confidence in your current roster running your plays perfectly. Probably explains why Lewis looked cautious and played not to lose, than go for the jugular.

Well, I was there in 1958 when we lost to UOP 17-68 and in 1959 when we lost to the Marines 6-64 so I probably can handle this. I know you, and a few others, are right there with aztecfanatic and myself. I don't take the bad times will, but I still hang on. I always say "You're got to be tough to be an Aztec." My first Aztec game as a kid was the Trakas game. What a great way to enter the fandom 😂

Probably the worst timeout to ice a kicker I've ever seen I hope the CMU special teams coach sent Lewis a gift basket for that assist

So thru osmosis Lewis became tough? He's ditched the fundamentals already so why not the toughness too? You don't go to Wisc. if you are not tough. They recruit it. They instill it. Yeah you already said they're the toughest and have the best fundamentals...two characteristics Lewis's teams don't possess. So he either acted tough and got exposed or lost the toughness thru time. I'm going with the former based on the guy being a sales man with his comically ironic "Be the Alpha" mantra at press conferences. Either way, it's not there now just like the missing fundamentals

The coach lost the game, he didn't do his job... At all. I'll conceived trick plays, and inexcusable t.o., failure to keep fresh legs on the field.

Remember last season at this time when Hoke refused to take any responsibility for his team's performance and we knew it was over for him? It's only week 4 of year 1, and we've already learned Coach Lewis is equally clueless.

Those were 2 chip shots. Either one would have been a game clincher. On to Hawaii...

Those were 2 chip shots. Either one would have been a game clincher. On to Hawaii... certainly, but I'll bet there were at least 10 other opportunities to put it away. like, an intersection that would have given the aztecs on the 10 yard line, but a freakin' face mask penalty gave the ball back to the American Natives, and how about the coach's brilliant time out with a few seconds left. The kicker missed but he did not lost the game all by himself. he had LOTS of help. the reference to "piece of s---" was not my post.

USA Today just came out with the rankings of all 134 D1 Football teams.
Aztecs came in @ a robust #111 after dropping 8 spots after the #101 ranked Central Michigan loss. They play #113 ranked Hawaii next. What a murderer's row.
