JD should be expendable. He blew the Hoke extension. STUPID He and our, ahem, "esteemed" President were rank amateurs in every conference alignment situation. He clearly mucked up this hiring as well. Got sold a bill of goods in Lewis. Dude must have pictures on someone. I think Lewis has promise, but he needs to take stock. He needs to understand that a framework is better than a wrote system. He needs an offensive coordinator who will balance his tendencies. I loved Rocky, but his failure was his inability to separate himself from the defense. Lewis has the same blindness just 180 different. If this continues against two really bad Teams, they should cut the cord during the second bye. No point in dragging this out another year plus. |

Well, if you fire Lewis, you're going to have to fire JD, who has yet to hire a good coach. JD is a better fit as an assistant AD. He's a grinder. Not a decision maker. I don't care how good his other hires are. Or, how good the minor Sports are.Football pays the bills. Football performance is how your School is viewed. Football success is what gets you into a better Conference. Not being the Stanford of your League. |

Lewis didn't miss two chippy field goals in the 4th quarter that would have won it. The FG kicker is in his own head - not what you want in a FG kicker. Is the kicker his recruit ? Is this Clueless Lewis' Football Team ? He's responsible for his lousy strategy to go up-tempo the entire second half. He is responsible for not rotating his backs. He is responsible for not getting the ball to the proper hash mark for a FG attempt. And, he is responsible for sticking with a kicker who can't hit the broad side of a barn. I won't criticize the kids as their NIL is pretty minimal. They are amateurs who get a small stipend. |

Sure if we had an even competent kicker we win. Who puts the kicker(s) on the team? We were outgained by 100 yards against a mediocre MAC school even after being +2 in turnovers. When Lewis quit on the team vs Oregon St running out the clock down two scores with 5:00 left I was done with him. He's got no fight otherwise he would have been throwing the ball and not quitting. He's a terrible hire and I feel confident he won't be the HC here in three years. As such we should cut bait and start over. The guy is a total clown and doesn't know what he is doing as is evident. We were losing to a FCS school who won just one game last year FFS. The problem is Wicker gave him a lush contract when NO one else was going to hire this guy as a HC. He knows he can go winless this year and not be fired. Even if he is he gets paid out. It's a total travesty. |

But we didn’t win the second half We won the first half and put the game on a kid that has played very little in the last 6 years of college football. His longest made field goal is 29 yds. Got to watch a full year of Danny (Dear with Headlights) O'Neil Marquez (1.9 yards per carry) Cooper Nick (Career Backup) Lopez Louis (Drop Balls) Brown Sean (Daddy Ball/ favoritism) Lewis He has a backup kicker that was a decent field goal kicker in JC and made all of his fields goals towards the end of last year with a few over 40+. Guess where he is at? Sitting on the bench due to him not being recruited by Lewis. Has a room full of RBs sitting on the bench with experience and guess where all of them are at? Sitting on the bench due to not being recruited by Lewis. Deepest position on the team and you mean to tell me a offensive guru cant figure out how to put two or three of them on the field. GTF out of here. Has a Freshmen QB that isnt ready to play at the D1 level at this time. What does Lewis do is send him out for 3 and outs while the opposing coach can figure out how to maximize the talent of two Qbs. We have a coach that sells himself as high octane offense. What does he do in the 4th quarter? Puts diesel in the engine. |

I knew Chuck Long was the wrong hire when he showed up at a basketball game to introduce himself and failed to instill anyone there with hope or excitement.
It took 4 games to realize Lewis is not HC Calibur. The unnecessary trick plays, the need to dazzle when competency wins this game by 3 touchdowns, the worst T.O. to chill a kicker in NCAA history.
Wicker has inflicted this on us, just like he and Torres maneuvering cost us a place in the Big12.

"Taking stock", seems to be a vestigial trait amongst our HC's over the past 10 years, and particularly now. Lewis neither offers, nor is asked for, explanations about his numerous misadventures in coaching decisions. He is--other than Repetitive Rapid-Fire bromides--mute; and the press it utterly incurious. |

For example, not recruiting a senior QB and turning the QB starting job over to a true freshman. Also, not keeping one of the best coach from the previous staff in Deakin is just dumb. Most of our recruits during that era bhad some baggage tied to them. Coach Lewis coaching staff (this year)gave a field goal kicker the opportunity to start based on favoritism and where he played HS football in hopes of opening that recruiting pipeline. It's early but I don't like what I've seen so far. I'm giving him mostly a pass this year, since clearly he wasn't planning on winning this season since he decided to start a true freshman and made excuses before the season for his offense not clicking for 4-6 games.
But I'm going to be judging hard next year
