On this point, I agree with you. The Pac doesn't need to move so fast that they make a mistake. Right now, the available options will devalue the conference when it comes to negotiating TV rights. Let's see if Teresa Gould can inherit Rocky's balls of steel and hold at seven for now, and let things shake out, such as the instability of the ACC and whether the AAC can actually sweeten its TV deal. The Pac will have to make a move for an eighth member at some point, obviously, but now is not the time to panic. Perhaps pivot to signing up non-football members. I do like the UC Irvine idea, btw. Maybe a better add than St Mary's to pair with the Zags. The Anteaters? Maybe. But if you are going to take a Big West school I'd probably go with Long Beach first. Plays in a arena, has a former SDSU assistant AD as their AD and has a former SDSU assistant as head coach. I really hadn't thought about a Big West team add before, interesting. Is right there in LA. UCSB might be more deserving but LBSU has potential. They also have a very solid baseball program that Ore. St. would love to add. UCI has been better at basketball lately, no idea who is better overall. LBSU plays a really tough OOC schedule (and routinely gets crushed by the likes of Duke on the road, playing one-off $$ games), and they are middle of the road RPI wise. We did hire away an Anteater coach recently to add to our MBB team.

UNLV got quite the sweetheart deal, assuming MWC gets all their fees
UNLV said in a statement Thursday that it expects between $10 million and $14 million from the Mountain West in 2025, followed by annual payments between $1.5 million and $1.8 million beyond the conference’s annual distribution. The agreement also allows UNLV to leave for a power conference before 2032 without penalty as well as keeping the conference basketball tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center on UNLV’s campus.

Just saying they have better facilities and their AD seems ready to give Acker what he needs to be successful. Plus, Long Beach is in LA, not Orange. I don't think either would be considered at this time but I could see LB doing really well in a few years.

Same way they kept Boise State a decade ago. Of course, SDSU never gotten a sweetheart deal, despite being one of the better programs in the conference. Add this to the reasons why I hate the MW. FWIW I hope we schedule UNLV OOC for home and home's (aka Vegas is out second home).

The cost for the football stadium is estimated at $300mm and the basketball arena $225mm. Where do they get the money? "The price tag for the grand proposal, which would make Hornet Stadium the largest sports venue in the capital region, was not disclosed though Wood said the funds from a variety of sources including donor funds and future naming rights was “secured.” "Wood said Sacramento State has secured funding for the stadium and it would “not have an impact on the overall budget for the university, as we seek to both protect our core mission of teaching while also creating opportunities to generate revenue for the campus and its programs.” www.sacbee.com/sports/college/article293047689.htmlI happened to be in Sacramento briefly this morning and one of the radio stations mentioned the costs that I posted, and reiterated it a second time. They said it came from the Sac 12 (LOL) supporters. And that they had no funding as of yet. I grew up in Sacramento and know a lot of the leaders in the city through happenstance and familial relations. They don't have the money - at all. They are lying. They just started this campaign a couple of days ago and I know through friends the people who are leading the campaign. I know the major developers in the area and know what they are working on and none are 1.) giving any money to Sac St and 2.) involved in any Sac St development. If SDSU EVER thinks of inviting Sac St to the Pac I'm completely done with SDSU. To even think of them as worthy is a farce. There's about 50 universities who are far more deserving.
