Not sure who the PAC turns to next unless they try to offer more $ to AAC.

That’s a lot of dough for schools like UNLV and Air Force. Hopefully the Mountain West conference actually gets enough money to pay these guys that $60 million in assigning bonus

I doubt either school will see much, if any, of that money. I really wonder what the other schools are getting? What is Gloria going to do, claim to the court that she's already spent the poaching and exit fee money so you just have to award me all of it because, well I spent it and really need it now.

If the roomers about UNLV athletics budget deficit are true, they need that lump sum badly. How could they say no?

Agree 100% with the statement in bold. When the exit/poaching fees end up in court, I would certainly think exhibits A, B & C should be: A) Boise raped the conference with their preferential football payouts B) You are extorting SDSU of how many tens of millions of dollars to leave the conference C) SDSU has already paid their fair share with NCAA tournament credits What has SDSU received from the MWC to warrant such penalties? Doesn't there have to be a quid pro quo of some sort?

Who gets to 8 schools first?
My hunch is MW will as they can take just about anyone.
PAC needs to be a bit more discriminating.

Man UNLV just destroyed their own athletic department.
UConn as a full member then add Gonzaga for basketball.

And we don’t have the money to lure them. If we don’t have to pay poaching fees we have the money. Take another run at Memphis, Tulane and UTSA or UConn. Then add Gonzaga. The PAC 12 has to go all out now.

The $50M is oddly the same as withholding $5M per annum for the 5 departing schools for two years.
They will get paid, they will be paid from the fees being withheld.
It’s a a shortsighted move by the MW. They have no cash on hand to help replacements. This will exclude FCS call ups. They will now need to convince UTEP and NMSU to join their ranks and hope the reduced travel is enticing enough for them to jump.
They have played a lot of their cards.

Sacramento State baby!!!!
MW is going to add UTEP and some other small school from Texas. We aren’t getting a AAC school, we tried and didn’t go all in to get them. That is dead now. There are just not enough western schools in a small conference left.

My guess is texas state, which is not at all exciting but have to get to 8. Texas State offers the same thing that UNLV did, potential. Neither have really done anything to earn a P12 invite. The media deal would be similar with either school as the 8th member. Not exciting but they tick enough boxes.

I understand why they went for it that way though. Probably Texas State. Honestly they are much better then their Sun Belt affiliation would suggest.
