No to any of the remaining MWC schools. I find it insane that some of you are suggesting San Jose State. Games with Hawai'i can be scheduled outside of conference play. If the Pac 12 was willing to offer UNLV then they should be willing to offer Texas State. They bring the same thing as UNLV, a decent media market and potential. Travel is a little worse to Texas State but adding them would help with recruiting in Texas. Yes, I think that might be the best add unless the PAC takes UConn and follows up with AAC teams to create and eastern division in 2027.

Love Hawaii as a vacation spot! Not so much as a member of the new PAC. And, I haven't put any rational thought into why.

Hawaii wouldn't make eight, but it would make nine, which is optimal for football scheduling. I like the idea of adding Hawaii as football-only, so another school would be needed to make the eight-team requirement. Hawaii could make 8, but they would have to be added as a full member. It is not unreasonable. They are currently in the Big West and all those schools with much smaller budgets manage the travel. I am not saying this is the best option or one I prefer, but it could be an option. The biggest pros would be the extra game for teams that play at Hawaii with extra TV inventory, and the opportunity to take trips to watch games in Hawaii.

The MWC really stiffed Hawaii with a 5% share. I hope they negotiated a 95% discount on the exit fee.

Not sure the pros outweigh the cons on Hawaii, patience, patience I bet something loses up.

Not sure the pros outweigh the cons on Hawaii, patience, patience I bet something loses up. Yes but the thing is, the MWC needs to add at least 2 schools to be at 8 (Hawaii doesn't count for all sports, and they haven't actually signed anything binding yet). So if we want to wait, they get the pick of the litter - I'd say Texas State, UTEP, NMSU would be good for them to build out their Texas and New Mexico geography. Then who are we adding? Probably UC Davis or Sac State or Hawaii for football to get to 8. It's not like adding someone to get to 8 will preclude us adding other teams down the road. I guess I can see the logic in holding off on Texas schools in hopes that we can get CAL/Stanford back. So maybe the PAC is good with UC Davis or Sac State or Hawaii as the fallback 8'th member, and they want to not add anymore schools right away that don't add value to the media contract? Would the MW try to lock up all of those schools though as well? How far will they go with expansion? That is the worry. I wonder if they can start negotiating it with 7, just to get ballpark numbers, and then ask the network to provide ballpark numbers with CAL/Stanford included as well, to have at the ready in case of ACC implosion.

Not sure the pros outweigh the cons on Hawaii, patience, patience I bet something loses up. It's a lot easier to want someone who wants you. Prime importance right now is to secure the 8th full member to secure the conference existence. I know there are issues with bringing Hawaii in a full member because of the costs associated with their Olympic sports. However, the Big West is somehow able to afford Hawaii's Olympic sports. To the best of my knowledge with Hawaii's TV deal with Spectrum on the islands they wouldn't take much, if any, from the PAC media contract.
Not the most desirable choice perhaps, but maybe the best one at this point. Before we go clear into the Texas market with the teams available, I'd just as soon as see if we could get San Jose. No altitude like Nevada or New Mexico and the easiest travel for all sports.
If we could get someone who would make a difference in the media contract then that would change things of course.

If the Big West budgets can afford travel to Hawai'i for Olympic sports then why can't the Pac for football only?
Y'all overlooking the degenerate gamblers nationwide watching UH games because they're all chasing 😂 With NIL, UH should just be honest with fans and market themselves as the degenerate gambler's favorite team with deals with sports gambling sites

No. They almost ended football at Hawaii. The stadium is a dump and they have no support. Traveling to Hawaii is like flying to the east coast. Also, it’s another mouth to feed. Much easier to schedule a home and home with them. No reason to let these dudes in. Disagree. Hawaii is an excellent university in a world class destination place with fertile football recruiting grounds. The statement that Hawaii football is in danger of being dropped is non-sense. There will eventually be a new football stadium for UHM, meanwhile in the era of TV who really cares until they do build it. Culturally Hawaii makes a lot more sense than adding UCONN. Ask yourself, would you rather travel with the Aztecs to UCONN or Hawaii? Which place produces more college football prospects? UHM offers a lot more than a lot of you are willing to recognize.

Apparently people don't realize where UConn is and how hard it is to get there. Not only is it a 6 hr flt at min(2700 miles) then 30-40 min drive to UConn, in winter? They average 14k for FB. UH is about the same distance n time. In winter, the same. And their FB stadium isn't that bad, I've been in-seen worse, and it fits their basic attendance. It's about tv times n $$$$! And we get extra home game every other year.

I believe the PAC should prioritize the Central Time Zone over the Hawaiian Time Zone, as it offers far greater value in terms of television ratings, viewer reach, revenue potential, exposure, and overall growth. More than 75% of Americans live east of the Rocky Mountains, while only 0.4% reside in Hawaii. Expanding eastward would be a more effective strategy than focusing on Hawaii, to continue to legitimize the conference, and for media coverage and eyeballs.

Great point. Hawaii is an R1 research institution, with an incredible diversity of science research, including astronomy, oceanography, marine biology, and geology. It's a world class destination, with incredible recruiting. It is geographically and culturally a match with the PAC12.

Not sure the pros outweigh the cons on Hawaii, patience, patience I bet something loses up. I've warmed to the idea of Tex. St. now, and then Memphis and Tulane in 2027. Would even take Memphis now, and Tulane etc in 2027. Just get to 8 FB schools with a plan, add Gonzaga and go on from there.

My reading was it wasn't the exit fee but the poaching fee that was more than the PAC was willing to pay for a football only member. Their exit fee should be fairly small as it's based on their share of the MW distributions to UH, which are relatively small.

Exit Fee an amount equal to three times the average per Member Conference distribution payment for the preceding year.

I do take some solace - being more pro-Hawaii than some other perhaps - in the fact that it's probably 98% certain that if the PAC invited Hawaii for all sports they would sign on the dotted line in about 3.5 seconds... even with some type of uneven revenue split to help cover other schools' travel costs. That's not the ideal outcome for the 8th school... but it would lock in the PAC as a legally viable conference, allowing time to then sort out maybe 2-4 AAC schools joining in 2027.
