Hawaii game is one I always look forward to attending. Would like to attend a game on the islands one day when the work schedule allows.

Looks like they’re going about it the right way. I respect that during these “wild, wild west” times. Good luck to them.

UHM belongs in the new PAC12. I for one sure hope logic and reason prevail. Add Hawaii now!

I like Hawaii but not having a real stadium is a huge problem.

No.
They almost ended football at Hawaii. The stadium is a dump and they have no support.
Traveling to Hawaii is like flying to the east coast.
Also, it’s another mouth to feed.
Much easier to schedule a home and home with them.
No reason to let these dudes in.

Time to grab Hawaii or SJSU if we can since UNLV has decided to stay. At the very least we can help them make $30M.

UHM belongs in the new PAC12. I for one sure hope logic and reason prevail. Add Hawaii now! Hawai'i is currently an affiliate member of the Mountain West Conference (MWC) and places most of its sports in the Big West Conference due to the high travel costs associated with its remote location. The Big West primarily consists of California schools, which offer convenient airport access. I don’t believe adding Hawai'i to the PAC would bring the total number of full-time members to eight. Full membership for Hawai'i would be expensive for both the university and the other conference schools due to logistical challenges. I'm not in favor of adding them. They play in a small stadium typically used by high schools, and there is a significant time zone difference of 4-6 hours depending on the region. Additionally, their limited television audience on the island (DMA #68) makes them less attractive to network TV, especially when considering kickoff times. A 6 p.m. local kickoff in Hawai'i would translate to 12 midnight on the Eastern Seaboard (EST), 11 p.m. in the Central Time Zone (CST, e.g., Chicago), 10 p.m. in Mountain Time (MST, e.g., Salt Lake City), and 9 p.m. in Pacific Time (PST, e.g., Southern California). The time difference is even greater when factoring in daylight savings. This creates minimal TV value for a national broadcaster. Both the MWC and PAC would continue to be relegated to later time slots since Power Five (P5) and Group of Five (G5) schools would take the more favorable earlier time frames, where viewership and ad dollars are concentrated. While a trip to Hawai'i may offer a great experience, the significant time zone difference creates major challenges for conference TV scheduling and flexibility. Here are the approximate percentages of the U.S. population living in each time zone: Eastern Standard Time (EST): 48% Central Standard Time (CST): 30% Mountain Standard Time (MST): 5% Pacific Standard Time (PST): 17%

Plus an OOC PAC Partnership, bonus. Sure, plus it brings Danny west for the holidays—he can stay at Bobby's, of course. But let’s be real: being a PAC Football affiliate is like bringing store-bought pie to Thanksgiving—just not enough. We might as well invite Hawai'i to run our fantasy league! We need 8 full time members, focus people.

Hair Thompson and Dan Guerrero, oldie and moldy, I hope they get the villa by the golf course, have unlimited tee times, spend a few days on Kurisu's yacht, hit high-end boutiques like Chanel, Gucci, or Louis Vuitton in Honolulu’s Ala Moana Center, enjoy private traditional luaus with Hawaiian music, hula dancing, and fire performers just for them, do a little deep-sea fishing and scuba diving, indulge in spa retreats, dine at top restaurants, and maybe even throw in a free timeshare. Hawai'i puts the Pacific back in the PAC-12. See below: " Duane Kurisu agreed to underwrite the lobbying effort. Kurisu’s resume includes being chairman and CEO of aio; real estate investor and owner of office buildings, shopping centers and industrial parks; and a minority owner of the San Francisco Giants. The negotiating team includes: >> Craig Thompson, who was commissioner for the first 24 years of the 25-year-old Mountain West. >> Dan Guerrero, retired athletic director at UCLA. He has served as chairman of the selection committee for the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament. >> Glenn Sugiyama, managing partner of Chicago-based Global Sports Practice, a sports consulting business with clients in 65 countries. According to the company, Forbes once described Sugiyama as “one of the most influential men in college athletics.” Last year, the Mountain West’s 12 members signed a loyalty agreement. A Mountain West school that seceded a year or more ahead of June 30, 2026, would have to pay a steep exit fee. For 11 schools, that fee is $17 million. But as a football-only member, UH’s exit fee would be about $3.5 million. Blangiardi said his group’s priority is for UH’s football team to receive a Pac-12 invitation. Whether UH’s other sports, most of which compete in the Big West, also would have to join would be left to Pac-12’s terms and conditions." www.staradvertiser.com/2024/09/24/sports/sports-breaking/blangiardi-assembles-team-to-try-to-gain-admittance-into-pac-12-for-hawaii-football/

No to any of the remaining MWC schools. I find it insane that some of you are suggesting San Jose State. Games with Hawai'i can be scheduled outside of conference play.
If the Pac 12 was willing to offer UNLV then they should be willing to offer Texas State. They bring the same thing as UNLV, a decent media market and potential. Travel is a little worse to Texas State but adding them would help with recruiting in Texas.

Hawaii wouldn't make eight, but it would make nine, which is optimal for football scheduling. I like the idea of adding Hawaii as football-only, so another school would be needed to make the eight-team requirement.
