He was offered by certain P4 schools more money if he used his red shirt and transferred. Being only 3 games played, he can still use it. He went into Odom, demanded more money, and was turned down. He's utilizing his red shirt now and will be transferring. NIL has to get some type of regulations in place and soon. It should have some locked in dates and tampering rules in place, like NFL Free Agency. Until that happens, stuff like this will only get worse. If I was a HC, I'd never take a senior out of the portal that has his red shirt still available because of a situation like this.

He is using the system as it is currently set up - with being able to use your red shirt season - NIL money and could toss in that UNLV seems to want to take the Money from MW rather then try to establish a decent PAC ( or we can pretend that )

If this guy was just chasing the money then why didn't he go to a P4 school? If true it sounds to me like he wasn't confident enough to compete against his fellow P4 talent to begin with. If he believed they promised him a certain amount of money, but then did not give it to him, it makes sense to leave for a place that will pay him what he is allegedly worth.
"ESPN reported that Sluka was verbally promised a minimum of $100,000 from a UNLV assistant coach. Multiple sources tell CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz that Sluka had not received any NIL money from UNLV. A crux of the breakdown was the fact that whatever Sluka believed he was promised by UNLV was not outlined in writing before Sluka arrived as a coveted transfer from Holy Cross."

I didn't say SJSU was high on my list of preferred members of the new PAC, just that they might be more preferable to a undefeated, ranked team with two wins over P4 opponents who are losing starting players to the portal mid-season. Something seriously wrong at UNLV, or maybe it's just something seriously wrong with college athletics. |

I wouldn't have conviction with believing in either side of this at this time. Seems like a lot of shadiness going on. Sluka spent 4 years at Holy Cross, I'm sure he's smart and understood the wave that was coming from this decision. Seems more plausible to me that he picked UNLV for more than just a $3k stipend, but who knows.
