I've watched all of his video podcasts from the Grind City Media studio, and he argues that Memphis made a huge mistake by not pursuing the PAC-12 opportunity from the start. He’s shocked they didn’t seize that chance, especially since Memphis has been trying to leave their current conference for over 20 years. They also got shortchanged when the Big East collapsed, as did SDSU and Boise State. It's a compelling argument. Why remain in a conference that neither values performance nor holds the same competitive stature as before? When the AAC started, it was comprised of 10 schools: Louisville → ACC Rutgers → Big Ten UConn → Big East/Independent FB Cincinnati → Big 12 Houston → Big 12 UCF → Big 12 SMU → ACC Memphis South Florida TempleToday, the AAC is a shadow of its 2013 self, with lowly ranked football and basketball programs. Only one AAC team (Memphis) ranks in the Top 60 for football and the Top 80 for basketball. The athletic department spends over $65 million a year, yet they have no home football field and play in the old Liberty Bowl. (Sound familiar?) Memphis blames economics and finances but believes something will happen soon to save them. (Big XII or ACC) *1 AAC team (Memphis) in the Top 60 Football rankings. - masseyratings.com/cf/fbs/ratings*1 AAC team (Memphis) in the Top 80 Basketball rankings. - barttorvik.com/trankpre.phpIt’s no surprise he’s frustrated after over 20 years of watching peer schools move to Power Conferences while Memphis is stuck with weak competition. he American Athletic Conference (AAC) football schools are: Army Black Knights (football only) Charlotte 49ers East Carolina Pirates Florida Atlantic Owls (FAU) Memphis Tigers Navy Midshipmen (football only) North Texas Mean Green Rice Owls South Florida Bulls (USF) Temple Owls Tulane Green Wave Tulsa Golden Hurricane UAB Blazers (University of Alabama at Birmingham) UTSA Roadrunners (University of Texas at San Antonio) Air Force may be potentially moving, based on the speculation about PAC/MWC conference realignments, but as of now, they are still in the Mountain West.

I saw part of it and he makes great points that Memphis is the only good bball and fball school in aac and should jump. But I couldn’t stomach watching the whole thing, still hate the guy

Just listened to the whole thing and he makes a very strong argument for the new Pac 12 over the AAC. It actually makes me feel pretty good about where we are.
Do we know if Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA did anything to contractually recommit to the AAC? I wonder if there are still potential negotiations going on behind the scene and if they are still a possibility for the league if the Pac ups the support for the exit fees?

But I couldn’t stomach watching the whole thing, still hate the guy Agree but this time I agree with him 100% He also said that Air Force has been in discussion with the AAC for a week (even with the MWC so-called agreement) which takes that conference to 15 or so? And even if they lost a school or two they have an endless supply of teams in which they could add: Coastal Carolina, Liberty, James Madison, Appalachian State, Troy, etc... They just added UAB, Rice, No Texas St, Charlotte & FAU in 2023 and UTSA for the 2024 season. For the PAC-12, UTSA, Rice, No Texas St are bound to the AAC, while Texas State is playing in the Sun Belt. (They may be a unlikely #8) and dare I say NMSU or UTEP from CUSA could also a consideration if all else fails The NMSU Aggies have had various conference affiliations w/o stability. 1931 – Border Conference 1962 – Independent 1971 – Missouri Valley 1983 – Big West (formerly PCAA) 2001 – Sun Belt 2005 – Western Athletic Conference 2013 – Independent 2014 – Sun Belt 2018 – Independent 2023 – Conference USA UTEP has had a little more stability. 1914 – Independent 1935 – Border Conference 1962 – Independent 1968 – Western Athletic Conference 2005 – Conference USA I know that we're not this desperate, but #8 has to come from somewhere and CAL & Stanford may not be the answer even if ESPN does not pick up the ACC broadcast option for 2027.

I liked his points about the new PAC having five Teams in the Massey Top 60 and AAC only had one. Memphis.
Same with basketball. The new Pac has five in the pre-season Top 80. The AAC ? Memphis again.

I don’t know that I’d call that a “rant”. He seemed pissed, but it was very rational and obviously as a passionate Memphis alum, he has put a lot of thought into it.

Not everything in realignment is what it appears to be and the one consistency is that everybody lies and only does what is best for themselves. And they lie right up until they get what they want.

I watched this earlier. Parish had a lot of excellent points of why Memphis should have joined. It might be a pipe dream, but if the PAC wins the court case, they could then offer Memphis and Tulane or USF again and let UNLV play in the MWC sandbox with the rest of the scrubs in the conference.

Memphis again. For this same reason I don't really care that the 3 AAC schools turned down the P12. They just aren't that good. I think Memphis would be a fun add but it's fine that they declined. The P12 was going to be the best G5 conference regardless.

I hope the Pac7 is finding a TV deal with a couple possibilities... one including the AAC4. If the Pac7 secures a prospective deal for about 12M+ per school, I think the AAC4 would reconsider if the TV deal was in ink. That dollar range seems attainable since the CBS/Fox MWC deal will be gone. Or maybe a TNT/CW/Apple deal?

With Memphis turning the Pac down, I don't think we should add any more of the front range/fringe schools.
