I thought a couple weeks back the concept of "6 needing 2" seemed a bit sketch. I like my ducks in a row before making grand entrances -- rather than "All of our options for getting this done pencil out great!" But that's just me. I still think "7 needing 1" would have been better if you needed some mystery and intrigue -- like a "Who's gonna get the final rose?" sense of exclusivity would have been a much easier process to sell to a UNLV or Memphis. But I'm just some hack shelling out my entertainment bucks for this stuff, so what do I know? Geez, how many of you guys watch "The Bachelor" for God's sake! No wonder our FB team looks weak and sucky, it mirrors our fanbase. C'mon y'all, turn the channel and watch manly things like hunting, fishing, Ultimate Fighting, sword and knife making etc. God, go find one of the numerous series about "Vikings," grow a long beard, shave your head, drink casks of beer while sitting in a chair lined with dead animal skins, preferably bear, not bunnies. Forgot buy a Be the Alpha tshirt

I don't believe the reports of $2.5M. the AAC schools just leveraged the conversations to acquire a guarantee of unequal revenue sharing. they did not have a desire to create a best of the rest. so now they pivot to building a smaller 8 team conference. It still leads to a much better payout and opportunities. With 7 conference and 5 OOC. they need o go out and schedule aggressively. If what you're saying is true, then the PAC-12 Commish, all the reporters, Canzano, Wilner, etc. were all taken for a ride. It still puts the PAC-12 in an odd spot having to try and lure 2 more teams to get to 8 in the conference. Just have a hard time believing they wanted USU being the preferred plan to get there. they weren't taken for a ride. a natural counter from the conference being raided is offer unequal revenue sharing and $ incentives. Memphis et al decided to take the bird in hand. We shall see how they do in a conference with a lot of dead weight. As for USU, the metrics are not great but sadly they are better than UNM, WYO, HAW, SJSU, NEV, and UNLV. As for UNLV feeling their oats, they are wining and no one cares. AFA has value, but in the age of NIL and everything else they have a very hard road ahead. the reports last week were that the top 2 targets were USU and UNLV out of the MW. UNLV for poential and geography and USU for geography and having a heartbeat with ratings. At this point, I believe that the pac wants 8 and then will shut it down. If it's UNLV great, if not they have options. the MW will get a pay day, but they were just relegated down.

The MW is locked into their media deal for a few more years. Whatever the PAC gets will be much more than that obviously. I'm just surprised the PAC-12 threw so little money towards the AAC schools but is going to shell out so much for Utah State? Was that really the Plan B if Memphis, Tulane, UTSA, & USF decided to stay in the AAC?—which they ultimately did. I saw a post on Twitter which claimed that the media market value for Memphis wasn't that much better than Utah St. I seriously doubt that.

Everyone knows the best reality show going is Claim to Fame! For the record I'm related to Christopher Wren, but unfort the show didn't think that was recent enough; WHATEVS! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Wren

What the hell is this "Bachelor" thing you are talking about, John Wayne? And if that's the way you look -- with swords and shaved heads and Vikings, etc -- and the football team looks weaky and sucky and mirrors our fanbase, then... You see where I'm going with this?? Gonna get back to MY current thing: Teddy Roosevelt going down an uncharted Amazon tributary. It's a book. You know? Books? And if our football team mirrors Teddy Roosevelt going down an Amazon tributary, then I'm definitely shelling out for season tickets for "Aztec Fast" next season. That'd be worth a buck or two.

I'm always mixed on SJSU. They should be more attractive, they've had several good football seasons. Their BB program could be competitive but it's pathetic no one goes to the games... unless we are in town. Plus they effed up their FB stadium by building that structure the entire length of the opposite field side and have no seats on that side ... which is side you see on TV broadcasts, they ought to move the TV cameras for games to other side so viewers actually see actual fans in actual seats ... It's beyond bizarre. Based in Silicon Valley they should be able to tap into huge $$$. Bay Area schools are, in my opinion, useless. This goes for Stanford and, especially, Cal, too. Their fanbases suck. People don't care about the teams anymore and, I think, there just isn't much interest in college sports in the area. Frankly, the same can be said for much of California, vis-a-vis other parts of the country. I live in Tennessee, and the support of college athletics here is orders of magnitude more intense.

Well, we will need someone. San Jose State is better than the conference disintegrating. So is Hawaii. Personally, I have no interest at all in any other MWC teams. And UNLV doesn't want in.

I don't know about that. But I do know that Memphis is a dying city. I work there, it's bad and on a fast track to being modern Detroit. Yeah, I visited there a few years ago. Nashville is lively and has C&W music. Memphis has the blues, which is literally depressing music. Saw where MLK was shot. Kind of gloomy. All that city has is Fed-Ex and Elvis Presley's' estate.

The lower the altitude the better, IMO.

Yes, I think we hired Vikings to coach our FB team and that is a step in the right direction. Beards, bald, don't know where the stand with edged weapons. Book, what is this witchcraft you speak of?

No.
This is by design.
ESPN and Fox are orchestrating the outcome they want.
