18,580 turnstile, which surprised me, as it looked much better than last week.

if you consider the fact they never really showed the upper decks, if you took the time to really look at them they were pretty empty.

Yeah for us! We hire and pay a boatload of money to a HC (an "offensive guru") and the second home game of the season against a decent opponent we bring all of 18,580 and score all of 0 points. I don't blame the folks who bought tickets and didn't show - they had a better evening by far.
Jesus.
We've made a major mistake in who we hired.

If getting into a P5 conference is really predicated on a strong FB program with a dedicated fan base, we might as well give up now.
Anyone have any idea of what the TV ratings are in San Diego for Aztecs FB? I know having the damn games on CBSSports doesn't help.

The place is a f****** tomb on TV. do you think they could at least paint new white stripes and numbers before a game. Everything looked faded and old. There is just no electricity in that place. After the Cal massacre next week, good luck on getting 12,000 to the next game. Joke program.

I think the faded lines were due to the soccer game today for the wave and the retirement for Alex Morgan from the Women's National Team. The lighter the lines the easier they are to wash off, comes with sharing a stadium because we know Aztec football is not paying all the bills anytime soon.

Should enclose stadium and put a roof over it, so we can have AC.

The Padres game was more-or-less concurrent and their ticket prices have pretty much sopped up the sports budget for most fans. Plus, it was hotter than hell.

Except the middle portion of the visitor's side. Those tickets need to be reduced in price.

Tickets need to drop by 75% until we can put a product on the field that is worthy to spend time and money to come see.
Hawaii will be about 12,000 and at some point in the season we’ll be under 10,000.

I really hate to say it but if the Aztec do not turn things around in the next couple weeks they are are going to have to pay people to come the the Hawaii game, seriously!
The idea of playing in front 10-12K fans in Snapdragon Stadium is just not a good look, Hawaii is not that big a draw which is not going to help things.

Props to the students. Student section completely filled and the upper student section was almost full. Only about a third left at half time. Mostly empty into the 4th quarter.

Hawaii will be about 12,000 and at some point in the season we’ll be under 10,000. 1. You have a bond to pay for and you aren't doing that with a 75% reduction in ticket prices. I do think their ticket strategy could be improved. I would only sell season tickets in the lower bowl and in t upper deck on the 50's. After that, I would have one price a $30 a ticket for every other seat. I would also move the visior alloment to the upper deck. 2. Hawaii is Family Weekend and it's Hawaii. Family Weekend will sell a good number of tickets by itself and Hawaii travels well from 8 islands and the 9th island in Nevada. It will be one of the better attended games. 3. WSU will be Homecoming and that game has a lot demand as well. If we are stinking it up by the time we play UNM and AFA, we could see 10K. And losing Craft style will not bring fans, people like wins.

Is the discrepancy between announced and turnstile attendance related to free student tix? As far as the stands, most everyone was gone by the fourth quarter, and that last OSU TD emptied most of what was left. We always stay to the bitter end, and the alma mater though mostly just to avoid the rush out … sometimes, we get to see a victory celebration.

That's certainly a contributing factor for most games, but not this one. It appeared to me that there must not have been many student tickets not used.
One of the biggest cause of the discrepancy, IMO, is from the Club seat holders not showing up. The Club seats are sold out, but those sections are fairly empty. Some of that is because many of those seat holders spend a lot of time in the Club area. I had seats in the East Club for the first year and now I'm sitting in the West Club sections. The people next to me spend not less than half the game inside the club instead of in their seats. They also usually leave early.
I bought me seats to be able to watch the game so I'm never in the Club during the game and make it to all the games. Same for my son.

I'll be careful not to drop anything over the side… We look straight down into club level seats. If we're not careful where we put stuff on the concrete curbing during the game, it'd go right over. Haven't lost anything yet, though.
