Any new names we are pursuing ? The only active name is Keylan Boone, a 6'8", 205 lb power forward who is a sixth-year senior. Boone is petitioning the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility and plans to enter the transfer portal based on a new rule that grants an extra year to players who were deemed ineligible for any part of any season since 2019-20. Boone qualifies for this rule, as the NCAA held him out of the first seven games last season following his transfer from Pacific. He also could return to UNLV if granted permission, however there roster is at 13 Scholarship players, according to the Las Vegas Sun. “We made a commitment to the 13 guys we have,” Kruger said. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t still ways that he could come back.” Boone is still on campus and working out at UNLV’s athletic facilities, along with his brother. Kruger has maintained a dialogue with Boone throughout the process. “I talked to him yesterday,” Kruger said. “I kind of explained, and he understood, that when the rule passed, that was the information we were given. And he knows that. And unless something changes, that’s where we’re at. But if something changes, then we can certainly talk about it — if that happens.”

do not think Dutcher is simply going to add a player to fill up the scholarships - is more likely that Dutcher will only add a player if he thinks they fit the scheme

do not think Dutcher is simply going to add a player to fill up the scholarships - is more likely that Dutcher will only add a player if he thinks they fit the scheme The Aztecs are in discussions with 6'2", 225-pound shooting guard Tyler Cochran from Toledo, Ohio. As a 5th-year senior, Cochran played in 32 games, averaging 30 minutes per game. He demonstrated solid shooting skills with a 50% field goal percentage, 35% from three-point range, and 70% from the free-throw line. His stats include an average of 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Cochran has previously played for Northern Illinois, Ball State, and Toledo. Cochran was the MAC DPOY. Final 8: SDSU AZTECS, Ohio State, Toledo, Fresno State, Hawaii, Marshall, Drake & Indiana State. Committed to Oregon State, then re-opened. "San Diego State is a defensive focused team, and after losing Lamont Butler to Kentucky in the transfer portal it stands to reason a player like Cochran – last year’s MAC Defensive Player of the Year who has averaged over 1.5 steals per game in each of the past four seasons – would fit Brian Dutcher’s system.
However, the Aztecs already added a trio of smaller guards via the portal in Nicholas Boyd (Florida Atlantic), Wayne McKinney (San Diego), and Kimo Ferrari (Brown) – along with incoming freshman Taj Degourville, so playing time might be tough to come by for Cochran."collegesportswire.usatoday.com/lists/transfer-portal-tyler-cochran-ohio-state-basketball/

Wasn't there some talk about whether or not he's truly eligible or not? I thought Kruger even said he was waiting to see what was decided.

Have not seen De’Sean Allen-Eikens or Keylan Boone land yet. I don't think the NCAA finalized Boone's petition.
I'll do a little diggin', but so far nothing showing up on Twitter (X) feeds and on the net.
Either way, with summer practices & the Swish League, I am pretty sure we are done recruiting.

At this time they are only going to take a guaranteed starter… and only one that is significantly better than who he replaces.

The Aztecs stand on 12 scholarship players + Ferrari (the Ivy League Senior walk-on), Majak will red-shirt, that leaves 11 scholarship players and high expectations on the (3) Freshman. I don't see us adding any bodies. Dutch & Staff have high regards for Magoon, Pharoah and Taj, and they are going to fight for PT/minutes.

He would be one of the best players on the team.
