Not nearly as interesting of a reason as I was imagining. Sorry. I even disappoint myself!

I love the late game starts. Leaves plenty of time to do other things during the day and zero need for canopies. In the early ‘70’s when I was in grade school I remember 50k+ crowds during the Coryell years with the late starts. Good times! Me too. Snapdragon is an awesome place at night with the sunsetting. I also like that it keeps Saturday more open for other things. The big downside is that no one in the rest of the country will watch us.

I guess folks here are too young, or to recent to the party, to remember that in the "Hay Days" of Aztec Football, almost all the games were at 7:00.

Unfortunately I'm not too young to remember that. sigh But, back in those days none of our games were televised and we didn't have 30++++ minutes of media time outs or overtimes added to playing time of the games. Best I can remember games back then took 2 1/2 to 3 hours max to be played. Now the minimum seems to be 3 hours with games going as long as 4 hours.

Lately that last part has been a blessing in disguise... hopefully changed/changing however
