I think that it is quite plausible that the govt. will at some time want to outlaw private health insurance. "Fairness" and "Social Justice" will be cited as justifications. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't outlawing private insurance part of HillaryCare?) Too many Americans do not understand that the Left, especially the Far Left, is essentially authoritarian and anti-libertarian. They feel that they know what's best and that it's important that everyone be brought into the fold. Of course, that can only be done two ways. The first is to offer arguments so persuasive that everybody happily signs on. Since leftist ideas are not so hot, that alternative won't work. The obvious alternative to that is to use the police power of the state to compel the unwashed to fall into line. AzWm All of the liberal plans are to ultimately get rid of any private insurance or fee for service in favor of "single-payer" (gummint) control. Stalinism is in their DNA. In their own words: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmR1anu2QOkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=S2N32x4UXy8OBTW, YoYo, WRT to your snark, "Please don't breed", it's too late. I have grown children, and growing grandchildren. The oldest grandchild will be eligible to vote next year. I have counseled all of them about people who masquerade as "moderates". Make sure they all have their ballots mailed to your address. That way you can vote by mail for them.

If someone does not agree with your opinion they are authoritarian and anti-libertarian. That is the amazing thing about conservatives, their opinions are not only "right", but they are "correct". I could even have a ballot sent for my eldest who died in '04! You libs are good for some great ideas, for sure... ...that's what your ilk does in every election. But, gosh.... who knew?

Since you are a conservative I figured you were not bright enough to think of it yourself.

As I have said for many years, I am secretly a moderate. BUT, that is boring as hell. It is more fun to be a Neo Fascist Conservative who wants to nuke Iran, OR a Bleeding heart Born again Liberal who likes all things Socialist or Marxist. I am getting better at the later.

The provision in the HC law would reimburse physicians for their time spent in obtaining the patients directive for their end of life. It would pay for an end of life conversation between you and your doctor, where you could say, no heroic measures for me or throw in everything and the kitchen sink to keep me alive.
No death panel. No government intervention. Just an opportunity to make your wishes clear before you are in a vegetative state.
If you haven't given direction to your physician and family members about your wishes, you should consider doing so. We spend significant financial and other resources providing care for people who might have preferred something very different, to say nothing of the emotional toll on families members who are forced to make this decision on your behalf and have to life with the consequences irregardless of what they chose.

I have long favored assisted death for those who want it. Hopefullly those doctors would be reimbursed, too.....
