He shot 37% from the field, 29% for three, 73% from the line. Numbers went down from the previous year. Listed as a 6’-7” guard, probably 6’-5”. B. JAMES was listed as 6’-4” at U$C but was measured at 6’-1.5” at the NBA camp.

He'd get us older, that's for sure. He started at Georgia in 2019-2020:
Fr: Georgia 2019-2020 So: Shelton State 2021-2022 Jr: Wichita State 2022-2023 Sr: Memphis 2023-2024

Here’s some highlights of him bombing Wichita State.

He played two years at Georgia but only got 5.4 and 7.5 minutes a game those two years. He did have a good year @ Wichita State though: 13.9 PPG, 40% from 3 and 78.1 FT%. I'll take that version of a 6'7" SG or Wing. The fact that he played worse across the board at Memphis is probably more a reflection of being coached by Penny Hardaway than his skill levels suddenly dropping. He could be a successful Diamond-in-the-Rough Reclamation project with our staff.

If he can shoot 40% from 3 and hit 78% of his FTs again and do it in a 6'7" body, he'll see the floor.

"Jaykwon Walton sure changes his mind a lot:Commits to Miss St. out of high school, then decommits without playing a game.Commits to Georgia.Leaves Georgia after one year and enrolls at Shelton CC.Leaves Shelton CC after one year and commits to Miss St. again.Decommits from Miss St. without playing a game and commits to Wichita St.Leaves Wichita St. after two years and commits to Alabama.Leaves Alabama without playing a game and transfers to Central Florida.Leaves Central Florida without playing a game, and transfers to Memphis. One year at Memphis and he's in the Portal."

Per On 3 Media.com "In 2021-22, Walton again entered the portal and initially committed to Alabama. However, he was arrested after being found with marijuana and guns in his vehicle, and Nate Oats announced Walton wouldn’t be joining the Crimson Tide as a result."

What is Alabama basketball getting in Wichita State transfer Jaykwon Walton? www.tuscaloosanews.com/story/sports/college/basketball/2023/03/30/alabama-basketball-jaykwon-walton-transfer-portal-wichita-state/70048365007/"...For Walton, it's a return to Tuscaloosa (Shelton State Community College is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama), where he spent the 2021-22 season with Eatmon and averaged 12.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals over 22 games. The Bucs finished 30-5 with a regional title and a spot in the NJCAA national tournament. "Jaykwon is probably one of the most talented offensive players I’ve ever coached," Eatmon said. "He's 6-foot-7, can really, really shoot the 3. Not only can shoot it but he can shoot it with range. Probably one of the best passers I've coached as well. He really fits Alabama's system. He's long, athletic, loves to play up-tempo style. Again, really, really can shoot the three...."

Is he worth the risk? I have no problem with the weed but the guns are troubling. Decision making is a concern, 8 colleges in 4 years, caught with a loaded gun on the same street where three previous Alabama players had shot and killed a victim. It looks like a lot of risk for a potential reward, appears to be a great shooter with NBA range. Weed is legal here, and I don't have an issue with that either. Aztec Players are known for their character for the most part. There looks to be many red flags around him.

To be fair to CBM, loaded guns and weed are different than skipping class. I loved him on the court. If he had bought into defense and class more, he could have been really fun to root for as an Aztec.
