Living on the East Coast for the past 20 years, I can tell y'all that there are some really cool, mostly humble, fun collegiate fan bases over here. UConn is *not* one of them. They are the worst I live in CT hate them. I will be wearing my Abramowitz Aztecs jersey Thursday In Stamford.

Wouldn’t that just be fabulous. I’ll be there and If we pull this off, I’m gonna talk so much s&it to their insufferable fans that I’ll likely need a security escort out of the Garden. I was on an elevator with 1 other guy in downtown SD the other day and I was wearing a SDSU jacket. This guy goes "so you're a SDSU fan?" and I said "Yeah I get pretty into it, have had season tix since I was a kid" then he super smugly says he's a UConn fan and was gloating about his 2 previous victories over us. Normally I can joke about all that stuff but he totally rubbed me the wrong way with his pompous attitude I hate them I live in the northeast, and I can confirm that your feeling about pompous attitudes from UCONN fans was correct.

Leave it to Hurley to make a virtual home game sound like being assigned to a gulag in Siberia. Oh, and the “early” game time! Yep, the committee really stuck it to ‘em. Yeah the committee really screwed UCONN. Made them have to fly home around 8pm Sunday from NY so probably a 90 minute flight at most. Meanwhile we fly home and get in around 3:30am on Monday morning. We wake up groggy around noon and do a walk through at best. Then we have to turnaround and fly 3K miles across the country losing 3 hours going West to East coast on Tuesday. Finally we get to practice on Wednesday and hopefully acclimate to the time zone. Lastly UCONN has like a 30-45 minute flight and is rewarded with a virtual home game being the best New England college basketball team in the area. Tickets have mostly been gone for months so we'll be lucky to have 200-500 fans in the arena with maybe the other two teams 500 or so fans pulling for the upset. That leaves only about 18K+ pulling for UCONN. I gotta believe that this will be Utah St./Grand Canyon/New Mexico/Gonzaga fan base on steroids. No one likes us, we don't care! LFGSDSU! UConn is flying to Boston? It’s like a 90 minute drive from the campus to the arena. I’ll be at the game. My employer is a sponsor of the NCAA tournament and I requested and won tickets to the Boston sessions a while back even though I knew it was unlikely SDSU would play here. I moved from SD to Boston a few years ago. I had season tickets from 2010-2020 and have managed to return to SD the past couple years for a game at Viejas. I can’t wait and don’t care if nobody likes us.

Usually works with the smug fanbases. Or so I have heard, I haven't done it personally, but I saw it on YouTube. 😁

Thanks for posting. It was a great read. They seem very respectful on their board considering they are a blue blood and the clear #1 of #1 seeds.

Biggest Gambling Upsets in Sweet 16 or Later:
2022: Purdue (-13) vs St. Peter’s 2002: Duke (-12) vs Indiana 2011: Kansas (-11.5) vs VCU 1998: Arizona (-10.5) vs Utah 1997: Kansas (-10.5) vs Arizona 2022: Gonzaga (-10) vs Arkansas 1985: Georgetown (-10) vs Villanova
Keep betting on UCONN and increasing the line, folks. I want to pull off the greatest Sweet 16 or later upset of all time.

I looked at some of UConn games this year. To me, they're better than last year.
I feel there's no comparison between #1 seed UConn this year and #1 seed Alabama of last year. I knew we could beat last year's #1 seed Alabama because we had the discipline and they didn't. Anyone looked at Auburn a week ago? I felt like I saw a rerun of that Alabama team in the last years MM sweet 16: Massive talent but no discipline whatsoever. UAB? No discipline down the stretch. UConn is way more disciplined.
This will be a tough game for us. But as Chris Berman frequently quotes, "That's why they play the game". Anything and everything happens in March Madness.

I'm picking UCONN by 15, 74-59.
They're just too good both offensively and defensively. They're bigger, faster, and stronger than us and they shoot better.
Now, having said that if we played them 10 times right now we'd win 2 or 3 games. We'd figure out how to play them. The problem is we only play them once. Could we get one of those 2 or 3 on the first try?
Probably not, but it's not impossible. It would be the 2nd biggest win in program history, and I'd love to see it!

I live in the northeast, and I can confirm that your feeling about pompous attitudes from UCONN fans was correct. Isn't Connecticut the poorest of those Colonial states? I live in Vermont. Today I had to go to Hertz to get a rental car because my truck is in the Shop. I tell the young man helping with my rental car that if my truck isn’t fixed by tomorrow afternoon I’m taking the rental to Boston on Thursday. He asks, are you going to the sweet sixteen, and I say yes. Mind you, I'm probably the only guy in Vermont wearing Aztec gear around. What does he say…. Oh I’m going as well, I just graduated from UCONN. The odds of this situation arising in Burlington, VT are extremely low. I said we’re going get you fu&kers one of these days. I also told him his coach was a giant D BAG. He had to me nice to me as a customer so I thought I’d take advantage of the situation. He actually seemed like a good kid so not all their fans are arseholes.

Same thing I said about UConn going into the final game last season, I think it applies now as well...
I don't know how UConn would respond to getting 'punched in the mouth'. No one did it to them last season. Aztecs got close -- pulled it to within 5 in the 2nd half. If a couple more shots had fallen, how would then have responded? Would they have cracked under the 'unusual' pressure? We'll never know.
So now, Thursday... let's see if these Aztecs can be the ones to land a punch, and see how UConn responds.
