Boyd, Coleman-Jones, and McKinney are thrilled to be part of Aztec Basketball, bringing the perfect blend of attitude, work ethic, determination, training, and a winning mentality. Boyd (Combo Point) Games: 27, 9.3 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.0 BPG, 40%/34%/84% Coleman-Jones (Post)Games: 33, 11.0 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0,6 SPG, 1.1 BPG, 45%/44%/77% McKinney (Combo Point) Games: 32, 13.5 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2.9 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 42%/34%/74% Once we secure that final replacement, our roster will be set, and then it's summer vacation. Of course, summer activities for the staff scouting and recruiting, AAU Tournaments, player development 6 returnees and 6 new players, Coaching clinics, and strategic planning sessions for the upcoming season are also on the agenda, alongside administrative tasks, handling NIL events, and managing team collectives. There's no downtime when it comes to preparing for success in the 24/25 season. And hosting camps. Can't wait to be on campus next month. One more and “We (locked) in!!” as Miles Byrd did say.

McKinney isn't a good fit, not much of a shooter which is what we need. He is well below koren and harris on my wish list He’s a better shooter than Butler and in my opinion an even swap overall.

When I said that we didn't have Boyd/JCV and it looked like Butler maybe back. The fit makes more sense now, both are similar level shooters, both Lamont and Wayne shoot decently off the catch but struggle off the dribble.

With all due respect you’re high on crack. The level of defensive intensity we employ is vastly more intense. ALL transfers experience a hit in FG% not to mention the level up in defensive player skill sets you must shoot over. That being said I love McKinney’s motor. He won’t take as big a hit as Boyd might. But I also really love Boyd’s shooting form/mechanics.

Butler isn't easy to replace rather put a guy in his spot and improve in other areas of the team. Agree with you Dunk

a prime example was Matt B - who when he started to play the Aztec scheme of defense realized that it required a lot of running that meant his legs got quite tired and when a shooter has tired legs it definitely affects your FG%
So a major adjustment for shooters

His first year here his overall FG% and 3pt% matched his 3 year career avg at Cal. So no, his shooting percentages did not suffer playing our defense.

His first year here his overall FG% and 3pt% matched his 3 year career avg at Cal. So no, his shooting percentages did not suffer playing our defense. In his 5th year, he dropped minutes from 32 to 27, shooting down 44% to 39%, 3 pt 40% to 36% scoring down from 17 PPG to 12.5 PPG, and but his turnovers and fouls dropped too. We didn't need him to do as much given the depth of the team. But, I don't know if the defense had anything to do with it.
