I am not thrilled over this statement for Lamont & Micah, and chasing NIL Deals. Butler should be an Aztec4Life "...It would be a welcome decision on the Mesa given the prospect of losing all five starters — three who don’t have remaining eligibility and two others (Lamont Butler and Micah Parrish) who do but may chase six-figure NIL inducements at another program like Keshad Johnson did last year..."I'll withhold judgement until I see what they actually do. I'll understand if they decide to chase the money, but I'll be very disappointed. He's a good player and I too would like to see him in an Aztec uni next year and healthy. However, he has to do what is best for him. And, I would wish him well.

I dunno. Not buying the "he's playing poorly because he twisted his ankle" nonsense. Got it. Rolled his ankle. Went into a funk. Never found his way out. But he seemed to be moving fine a week after his injury. And his ankle doesn't explain his multiple airballs from behind the arc on wiiiiide open looks. Dude has such a smooth stroke. Prettiest shot on the team by far. But it just seems like he forces things. Rushing shots. Fadeaway jumpers with a hand in his face. Side-to-side jumpers. Those are difficult shots. I think he'd be much better focusing on squaring up to the basket on shots and/or catching the ball in rhythm and shooting rather than always trying to shoot while on the move. I agree the injury shouldn't be the cause of the lingering 'slump'. However, he mentioned the fatigue angle as well... and that can easily be mental as much as physical, which would plausibly contibute to an extended slump. Based on comments he and coach have made in the past (about confidence) I totally think it is mental.

Yeah, he also talked about how much pressure he put on himself. I think that's more of what happened. He's known as a scorer, and wasn't scoring. That'll tighten you up, and not keep you loose to stay in rhythm.

I want to see an injury free Waters absolutely dominate next season And he will He could have a big Jaedon-ish jump next year. Not the same way but big impact. He’s an incredibly nice, humble young man. This shows he is grounded and has a good head on his shoulders. I continue to be so thankful and appreciative of the highest quality of kids Dutcher and staff bring in. Class class class. These kids mostly all excel in school/grades as well … Jaedon 4.0 in his MBA program, we had several guys grom last years teams get 4.0 in some semesters… Nate, Arop l, a few others. I think Keshad did or got very close. I sometimes think because our kids are such nice, humble, good people that maybe at times when they’re struggling their confidence wanes and that exacerbates their struggles. These guys aren’t irrationally confident - let alone cocky - those traits can sometimes help you power through and out of slumps.

Reese Waters has spent the last month or so lulling the competition into complacency. Today he stops the "rope a dope" and throws down for 30.

think that he is one of the best Aztecs that can create his own shot but seems to be forcing it
Also noted that he was put in for defense to help close out the game against UAB - and Yale has some taller guards as both are 6'4 and a 6'6" wing can shoot the three over smaller players so added value for Waters and Bryd
