This is a .500 team, which is pretty much good enough to compete in the National League. Expanded playoffs have rendered a lot of teams essentially unmotivated to make real changes, considering the marginal gaps between contending teams. .500 team with the firepower to beat the best teams in the NL, especially in a 5 game playoff series. The top end of the rotation and bullpen is good: Cease, Darvish, and then it remains to be seen if King and Waldron can keep it up, and if Musgrove can be effective when he comes back. Suarez, Estrada, Peralta, Santos, Morejon No major holes in our lineup either - we expect/hope for more from Machado, Campy, would like to see Bogaerts in action, would like better production then Azocar and Wade (pull Rosario up from AAA for Wade at some point in the season). Azocar is mostly just a defensive replacement at this point. Sullivan is doing well at catcher in AAA, but Higashioka doesn't have any options left unfortunately. Solano is very solid at third for us. They are a .500 team. Period. Way too much talent to be a .500 team. But they are.

A lot of it comes down to who's hot at the moment. Strange things happen in playoffs. Just get there. Stay around that 500 Mark at the All Star Break, and they have a great chance to make it there.

Spazquez got some great defense to get him out of trouble in the first, but there really was no defense for that first pitch …
MachaD'oh! GIDP. Once Again. And he kills what might've been a promising inning. Trending down. Needs to hit the IL and stay there awhile. He obviously can't run, he isn't hitting worth beans, and he can't even play his position. Wasting ABs at DL is nonsense right now. More management nonsense.

Update on est. return dates: Yu: this Friday, 6/14 Joe: 7/19 XB: 8/2 If No Go Joe's return date is estimated at 5 weeks, I'm not sure he'll actually be back this season. Ever since last fall, he's been ailing. Whatever it is, it isn't resolving. He's been dependably roughed up this whole season when he is on the mound. Could be time to repair the problem rather than hope it goes away. Based solely on what's happened so far, it won't.

I don't know what Niebla said to Matsui on that mound visit, but whatever it was, it worked!!!

De los Suckos delivers. Again.
Incredible how bad he sucks in these situations.
"Team leading 8 holds …" - well not after tonight's failure.

De Los Suckos (borrowing that moniker from you Junior, since it fits so well) strikes again. Wow.

Like I said before, Jackson Merrill seems to hit more barreled balls right at people than I've seen in a long time. Sheesh.

Higgy seems like a very humble, nice, unassuming man. Really happy for him. Nice win. Hopefully we can get on a long winning streak. There's always hope!!!

Free Jumbo Jack for the game-winner. Slap some cheese on it.
