Flatter than a pancake off the loss yesterday. I was hoping to see more fight from a Shildt-led team. Flat, as in Musgrove pitches. Being flat has nothing to do with Musgrove. When you give up 4 home runs in 4 innings, you can be as high as a kite, and fired up all you want, it will still be a let down. Musgrove just doesn't have it, and I've been concerned about him since the get go.

Team blows a massive lead on the road in the finale of a series, has to travel and is predictably flat in the first game back of the homestand. Something you see a ton of in all sports, really. But again, Joe wasn't really a part of that so it doesn't explain his implosion. I get the flat offensive game so far, but not the pitching. If guys were missing plays behind him, that's one thing, but they didn't. Anyway, now that I know what you mean I agree that some of today's flat affect is likely fallout from yesterday. Still, pros have to keep one bad loss from becoming two … or more. Nola isn't helping out, either. And that too, is predictable. It doesn't matter, it's a team sport. Happens all the time. And the offense is just as much of an issue, really. Only a couple of balls hit with authority all night. Pauley's ball at 99.7 was a home run in 17 parks, just not the one we're playing in.

Well I'm not sure what you think a "predictable spot to lay an egg" has to do with today's stinker, either. Just trying to make sense of what you're alluding to… Team blows a massive lead on the road in the finale of a series, has to travel and is predictably flat in the first game back of the homestand. Something you see a ton of in all sports, really. Musgroves horrible pitching performance has zero to do with that.

Yeah, I don't really care. I thought you're a Padre fan? I was talking about whatever you wrote, not my fandom of the team.

Pauley back to the bench today. Facing a lefty, so that actually makes sense.

At least they'll keep Manny's bat in the line-up. Merrill's back, but Cronenworth's out. The gyrations in the lineup start to look a little bit like Melvin 2.0…
Cease needs to put an end to the mound leakage today.

That's not a Melvin thing, it's a baseball thing. Guys will need days off.

Schwarber's 3-5 with 2 home runs against Cease. Yikes.

Another tough night, San Diego. Now Cease is taking his turn at dropping a stinking Shidt on the mound. Join the club.
What lame excuses will we have to listen to after this one…
