The pitching has been off the charts great as of late. Absolutely incredible.

Now unlike Joe's, let's hope that this year's no-hitter gets parlayed into the Pads making the playoffs!

Didn't see one pitch. At Del Mar, getting ready for the races.

Oh and lost in the excitement, nice 6-0 season sweep of the Nats. Helps assuage losing those prospects, i.e. Abrams, to them.

Thinking about the rarest occurrences in baseball - no hitters, perfect games, triple-plays, unassisted triple-plays, but only one guy has ever hit two grand slams in one inning. Ever. And his kid plays for the Padres…

Talk about being "dialed in" … indeed. Can't wait to see what he does next time out. A no-hitter is generally a hard act to follow…

For those into the specific pitch stats: 114 pitches - 60 sliders, 44 fastballs averaging 98.3 mph, and 10 knuckle-curves.

Cease has been close-to-unhittable lately, and now he throws a no hitter! Impressive. Reminds me what Snell did at the end of last year.
Which BTW, the Giants are 6 games below .500.. it's possible that Snell gets traded.

In other news, the Pads went from 8 games back in the loss column to ATL just last week to now 3 games back. Gonna be a wild (card) ride these last two months.

A lot of what's happening up there is his fault. Such as? Inability to connect with players, letting frustration boil over with the media, not being able to plug in the right players in the right spots, questionable bullpen decisions, etc. He thought the grass would be greener and it's proven to be...not so much.

Inability to connect with players, letting frustration boil over with the media, not being able to plug in the right players in the right spots, questionable bullpen decisions, etc. He thought the grass would be greener and it's proven to be...not so much. It is almost exactly the same situation he found himself in with the Padres. How he did so well as a manager earlier - Mgr of the Year not just once but 3 times - and has done so poorly in the same position since he left the A's is somewhat of a mystery. What's different? Clearly, whatever worked for him before - whether skill, personality, or just dumb luck - is lost - or at least he sure must be thinking that right about now.
