Any thoughts on the starting 5 for 2024/25? Boyd PG (Davis/Farrari) Byrd SG/SF (McKinney) Waters SG/SF (Taj) Gwath PF (Compton) Coleman-Jones C (Heide/Johnson) Majak - RS 9 to 10 man rotation As of now I'd roll with experience and say - McKinney (25-30 mins) Waters (30+ mins) Byrd (25-30 mins) JCJ (25-30 mins) Heide (20-25 mins) Off the bench: Boyd (25-30 mins), Davis (10-15 mins), Magoon (10-15 mins), Pharaoh (15-20 mins), Taj (5-10 mins) The only locks to start are Waters and JCJ IMO. Everyone else is fighting over the Summer for starting jobs and minutes. Traditionally Dutch has liked starting two guards together, I could see that with McKinney/Boyd, I just think this is going to be a big year for Byrd. I only give the edge to McKinney since he's had so many minutes as a starting PG. Pharaoh's build is already ready to get serious minutes, I'm excited to see what he looks like on the court. I think Magoon will be a good piece but still has some weight to put on and may be some rust as he gets back to actual game play.

After watching Taj in a Swish game, I think he'll play more than you think. He looked like a grown-ass man out there.

Moreover, he looked pretty good on defense already. That's really the way he'll get some playing time, how fast he can pick up the D.

very interesting article in Friday July 12 article talking about the MBB for this year and moving forward with the current situation with NIL and transfers rules
Coaches might have to get used to rosters flipping more then they have in the past
As noted by Dutcher this will be a much Younger and less experienced team then last years teams . Will need a lot more training and teaching then the past couple of years
The team does have more Vocal leaders then in previous seasons
Could be a lot of on the job training for the team
Dutcher expects to use numerous freshmen in the rotation - and very likely one may start at the 4 position and his back up as well
Zeigler guesses that it could be Boyd at PG - with 2 wings Bryd and Waters - with MG or Compton at the 4 - with JCP and Heide at the 5 - with McKinney - Davis - Taj -as part of the rotation
One of the Nevada Sports websites speculates SDSU as #7 in the MW
