I fear the prestige of playing in the B1G, or at Miami will be too great to resist. Hoping I'm wrong, but I try to imagine what my thought process would be as a HS senior. Yeah... time will tell. I'm just trying to practice being FAR less emotionally attached to the various "wins & losses" in the recruiting world because it's just so much more chaotic now in college athletics. Between the portal and NIL, it's a brutal time to be a college football fan.....but I can't wait to see the product Coach Lewis puts on the field; hope springs eternal

Would a guy like this be our day 1 starter? Or, would it be expected that he sits and develops for his first season?

Remember, he picked Lewis over Miami once already, Colorado would have had a better NIL deal, but Miami also has already signed a QB for next year. However, a bounce back is always a possibility. Mayden was originally singed to play at Mississippi St.

We get all jacked up about a potential 16, 17 or 18 year-old kid who might be good for our football or basketball program. Then: 1) We don't get them and were probably not even in the mix 2) We get them and he's a) not very good b) average at best or c) he's good or very good That's a lot of energy to put into someone with a greater chance of downside rather than upside. I agree with hoops, I'm waiting until they get to and play well on the Mesa.

Assuming he actually gets the chance to play there. Miami has a lot more prospects, and already has a similarly rated QB signed in this class. These teams can get transfers like there's no tomorrow, and Miami is seeking one, in addition to bringing back Emory Williams who was a starter before getting hurt. I'm sure he understands this.

All the big schools just stock up on studs, knowing that at least one of them will win the competition. And if you have a HS kid with lots of confidence from being a star in HS, they'll just assume it will be them who wins out. Then two or three of them sit on the bench thinking about playing somewhere else the next year. It's really gotten crazy. We went from giving these kids zero freedom and $ to way too much of both. Not sure about the rest of you but when I was that age I made 2-3 bad decisions a day.

They're both in the same general range. Both are 3*'s, both are rated 87-88. The composite is .8714 vs. .8786, which is relatively minor. Neither are 90's where you start to see some delineation. Doubt either will be our Day 1 starter. At least I'd hope not. JTJ didn't practice enough last year due to injury, and hasn't seen the field in a game. Danny's a true FR, and not a high tiered QB, and he even realizes redshirting would be a good idea & a chance to put on muscle/weight & master the playbook. I'd hope our starting QB is a junior/senior transfer who's played in some games. Those 2 can battle it out, along with any of the others who return, for QB2 & the favorite to start in 2 (or 3) years.

Also like the true freshman on last year's team - at 6'4" and 205 lbs. has a lot of the physical attributes for a QB - has played 3 years of HS Football in So Cal and then 1 in No Cal . In addition played basketball in HS - so would guess quite athletic
seems that there have been a lot of the better college QB's that have come out of So Cal

This… I would be surprised if he signed with Miami. I think they are still in the running to see what kind of NIL money from either State or NU.

Ahem....
Many are confusing the University of Miami Hurricanes with the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. Think Ben Roethlisberger - not Gino Torretta.

Ahem.... Many are confusing the University of Miami Hurricanes with the Miami of Ohio Redhawks. Think Ben Roethlisberger - not Gino Torretta. “Lewis is hoping the last year pays off with O’Neil joining him at SDSU. O’Neil said he is considering the Aztecs, Northwestern, and Miami as his finalists. Only a three-hour drive from his home, he visited Northwestern earlier in the year. He might see what the Hurricanes have to offer with a visit beginning on Friday. Last weekend, O’Neil took in the sights at SDSU as part of Lewis’ first official visit weekend.” Quote from this article… www.eastvillagetimes.com/seeing-sean-lewis-through-danny-oneils-eyes/
