Eric Kutsenda is the new Padre boss, at least temporarily. Well, what do you know--a member of Seidler Equity Partners. This was expected. He had stepped into an advisory role as Seidler stepped away in the last couple of months when his health worsened. They had to name a point person, it's MLB policy to have a designee. It's not expected to be permanent.

That was also the reason for my earlier question as to who would be taking over. I should have narrowed that question down to who would be operating the club for the Seidler family. I'm not at all surprised that a member of SEP is taking over--at least on a temporary basis.

The goal is to have someone in the family step in, but in the immediate wake of Seidler's passing, Kutsenda is a logical choice to handle operations for the time being. GM meetings are going on and time wasn't on their side.

Was this sad passing a surprise to those in control of the Padres? They now have "employees" running this organization and the team WILL suffer.
